Hun Sen warns opposition not to boycott swearing-in of parliament
PRIME Minister Hun Sen issued a stern warning to opposition parties Monday, saying that if they go ahead with a planned boycott of the swearing-in of the National Assembly their salaries will be cut off and they will lose their positions in the legislative body.
"If they ignore the swearing in, then they will not get paid," Hun Sen told reporters at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs after a meeting with US Deputy Secretary of State John Negroponte.
"In Cambodia the winning party cannot be held hostage by the losing party. If they join the swearing-in or not it is up to them, but the ruling party will go ahead."
Hun Sen said he was unsure why the opposition had decided not to recognise the results of the July 27 polls and emphasised that he did not want them to throw their parliamentary seats away. He added that his Cambodian People's Party is actively seeking replacement candidates to take the opposition's slots in the Assembly's nine commissions.
"They cannot order the King to [hold a separate ceremony for them ... the National Assembly has never been sworn in twice," Hun Sen said.
Sam Rainsy Party Deputy Secretary General Mu Sochua said the opposition was not concerned by Hun Sen's warning.
"We [will still] boycott and we are not concerned about the threat," Mu Sochua told the Post.
"If the CPP's aim is to take our seats then, please, take control of 116 of the total 123 seats in the National Assembly [and] it will be the CPP's National Assembly," she said, referring to the number of seats the CPP would hold if it confiscated the SRP's 26.
On Friday, Sam Rainsy Party lawmakers wrote to King Norodom Sihamoni requesting a separate swearing- in ceremony.

This messages for ah Hun Sen,
The NEC is working for you. The NEC received your order
to remove over a million voters from the voting list because you are
very sure, those people willing to vote for opposition parties.
Another thing NEC has no right to remove name from the voting list.
From my perspective, this general election is completely fraud. In the
real number that you won is only around 50 seats.
And you ah Hun Sen! trying to force people to accept the fraud election?
You and your gangster CPP go to Hell.

To Greg
You need to understand that Cambodia still have the same communist government inherited from the Indochina Communist Party led by the Vietcong since the 1930! I like to tell that you that the current Cambodian government likes to operate in the shadow through intimidation, coercion, and assassination and deception and misinformation!
For anyone to understand the true politic in Cambodia and s/he must live and breath in Cambodia and with time s/he can reads the politic in Cambodia like the palm of the hand!
By the way, the current Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen was a former communist Khmer Rouge installed by the Vietcong since 1985!
Ah Scam Rainxy and his gangsters have wasted enough money from our poor taxpayers. It's time to cut them off and save poor Khmer people.
the election is over already, why are they still protesting the election result? would it makes a difference to recount? this shows clearly the trouble-makers. i hope mr. hun sen is smart enough not to use force on these protestors. they have to wait until the next election. perhaps, they can learn something from this election in order to get better result next time. or is it what the people want? voters had spoken as to who they want to run the country. i guess people learnt from the mistakes of the past, and perhaps, they don't want to have a trouble-maker gov't in office; that is why mr. hun sen won. one has to wonder out loud, sometimes. the majority of khmer people can see what is good for them. god bless cambodia.
I remember when signing the supplementary agreement with Vietnam. Hun Sen threatened the King to sign otherwise the monarchy would be abolished.
No work, no paid, that is universal.
THIS HUN SEN FUKEN GUY IS FAR WORST THEN HITLER WAS.
CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THE DAY FOR THIS STUPID GUY.
pouk ah lampar or trouble makers, period.
If they don't come to work, fire them, and get someone else.
Who said the opposition party didn't want to come to work? This is a form of protest by the opposition party in the wake of Cambodian massive election fraud committed by AH HUN XEN government!
There is no massive fraud, only a hand full, and everyone did it, especially Ah Zimbabwean Scam Rainxy.
The answer for ending the suffering of the people of Cambodia, Cambodians must use their "people power" REVOLUTION to topple the dictatorial regime.
I think Ah Sen's administration is quite disquieted with the (recent) news of electoral fraud.
It's time for Ah Sen to stop distort the truth and lying to Cambodians. After the general election, everyone in Cambodia knows that Ah Sen's administration cheated the general election.
Every Cambodians in Cambodia and abroad deserve to know the truth about the electoral fraud, which was perpetrated by the grotesque human garbage (Ah Sen). This is truly grotesque reflection of a human garbage administration runs by a thug (most hated by his people).
The people of Cambodia must say YES to "people power" REVOLUTION.
Mr. Sam Rainsy, now -- it is the time that you and your colleagues to tell the people of Cambodia that the overwhelming majority of Cambodians were disenfranchized by Ah Sen's administration.
THE POWER TO PEOPLE POWER REVOLUTION.
BLOOD NEEDS TO BE SPILLED TO RESCUE THE DEMOCRACY AND PEOPLE OF CAMBODIA.
PEOPLE NEED TO USE THEIR PEOPLE POWER TO VOTE AH SEN OUT OF HIS OFFICE.
Ah Siam fuck you all. And fuck ah leaders nowadays. Ah Siams learned from you fuck corrupted system too well.
Who is better? One is saving the country's face and another one is saving his party's popularity.
So pathetic.... What are you goonna do about it pro-cpp?
