The day after the confrontations which led to the death of 3 Cambodian soldiers, it appears that at least 5 Thai soldiers were also killed.

Returning to the outcome of the shooting the day before, several Cambodian soldiers questioned by Cambodge Soir Hebdo have assured that there were at least 5 Thai soldiers killed and 2 injured near the stair step to the Preah Vihear temple. “Two bodies were discovered yesterday and 3 others were found today, we even helped our enemies carry the bodies,” one of the soldier explained.

A [Khmer] soldier using a GPS system was taking measurement along the border would have been the origin of the exchange of fire. He was fired on by the Thai camp, leading immediately to the chain reaction in at least three locations along the Khmer-Thai border.

On 16 October, at the end of the meeting decided yesterday between the two armies, the situation is returning to normal in Preah Vihear.

Army chiefs who met each others in Thailand, tried to avoid the worsening of the situation. Finally, as a goodwill sign, the 13 Thai soldiers who were rounded up, then disarmed in the Keo Sekha Kiri Svarak pagoda were freed and their guns were returned to them.

Regarding the balance of forces, military brass decided to return to the situation which existed before the fighting, i.e., 10 soldiers of each country will be allowed to station in the pagoda, and 20 others are deployed in the surrounding area.

Srey Deuk, commander-in-chief of the Cambodian army in Preah Vihear, called the status-quo “a good result because there is no war,” while indicating that the two armies present agreed not to open fire.

Why dun AP, AFP, Xinhua, CNN... dun report this causuaty outcome of the thai soldiers?

Very simple because the Thai lied to them. They still denied that Thai soldiers were captured. So no surprise there.

Also don't expect the west media to tell the truth about Thai that can tarnish the image of their puppet (and their image at the same time, because Thai soldiers are trained by them).

Thia military suppressed them, I doubted. That's common for them. But, the fact is the fact!

We can all help expose this to the world, brothers. Don't just read about it. Make it heard via the internet. It's very powerful if you know the extent the internet can play in channeling out messages and stuff.

I've been making montages of the Khmer-Thai conflict news that the world media don't report on. www.youtube.com/khmertruth.
The power of media is very powerful. Let the world know the news that their biased media won't let them.

Peace

Usual Thailand is too proud to admit the facts. They called themselves Buddhists.

They lied as to no different during 1977 fights with DK along the same border. Only the local knew that DK had raided illegal hometeads made by ethnic Laos and Khmers from inside Thailand.

Thai had suffered heavy casualty then but no press knew anything.

Thailand's more than 300,000-strong military uses modern American equipment and dwarfs Cambodia's 125,000 less well-equipped troops. Cambodian forces however are well versed in guerrilla warfare after fighting an intense civil war against the communist Khmer Rouge

It is great to be able to use KI Media blogger giving khmer readers freedom to express their views, suggestions and the factual news KI provides about our country. Lots of khmers learn a lot from this site. People from diffirent background read the KI. Their opinions are crucial particularly in this current border issue.
Thanks KI

UN IS UNDER AMERICAN INFLUENCE, AND TAHILAND IS A LONG STANDING FRIEND OF AMERICA. THAILAND'S WEAPONARY EQUIPMENTS ARE SUPPLIED BY THE AMERICA. DON'T YOU KHMERS KNOW THAT THE M16 RIFFLES AND THE BULLETS KILLED THOSE TWO KHMER SOLDIERS ARE MADE IN THE US?

YOU KHMERS ARE SO DUMP, YOU ARE WELCOME TO BRING THE ISSUE TO THE UN. YOU CAN ONLY WON AT THE UNISCO BECAUSE IT IS ONLY A SEPERATE CIVILIAN INSTITUTION FROM THE UN.

YES, THE ONLY SOLUTION IS TO JOINT DEVELOPMENT THE AREA, AND THAT IS THE MUTUAL BENEFIT FOR BOTH NATIONS.

But, still old weapons could get 6 Thais and captured another 13 plus 7 more injured.

Anonymous said...

Yeah, even with their m16s and american training they still lost 5 guys and we only lost 2. They need to stop trying to steal what is ours. Everything they have they stole it from us and just tweak it alittle bit to say its theirs.

12.56 am, 12.11 pm,

however it was the former khmer rouge who inflicted heavy casualty on the seim robbers, not the cpp soldiers who only know how sing karaoke and evict people from theri land,

5:48 AM What are you suppose to be big and bad because you get weapons and training from the US? Remember that they lost the Vietnam war even with their superior firepower and military expertise. Thai soldiers are no match for the battle-hardened Khmer warriors.

So in this page, I have met Cambodia's total internet population! I should feel proud, but then again the rest of Cambodia is too dirt poor to even afford a proper TV.

There's a reason why us Thais use the word 'khmer' as a deragatory term. There's a reason why the Thai economy is 100x more powerful than the Cambodian economy.

The border incident? We're too busy with our own government than to bother with such pests.
