BANGKOK, Oct. 24 — Thailand will definitely host the 14th ASEAN Summit in December but is pondering whether to switch the venue to Chiang Mai, local media reported.
The summit was initially planned to be held in the capital, Bangkok from December 14 to 18, the "Nation" newspaper quoted the Thai Foreign Ministry as saying on October 23.
However political tensions, including anti-government protests which have occupied the Government House for months have forced the government to reconsider the viability of this plan, the paper said.
The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) consists of Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

For safety of all ASEAN country leaders, the ASEAN summit should be moved to the middle of the sea or the sky.
