Phnom Penh - The Cambodian Foreign Ministry announced Friday evening that embattled Thai Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat has cancelled a scheduled visit to the country at short notice. Foreign Ministry spokesman Sin Bunthoeurn said Thailand had given no official reason. Somchai was expected to arrive in Cambodia on Monday.
Somchai's visit was part of a traditional tour of fellow members of the 10-member Association of Southeast Asian Nations made by new leaders, but was expected to focus on an ongoing border dispute between the two neighbours which flared in June and saw gunfire exchanged and soldiers on both sides wounded last weekend.
Thai and Cambodian troops remain at a tense standoff over disputed border territory to the north and north-west of Cambodia, and it has become a highly sensitive political issue for both sides.
Somchai was appointed prime minister on September 25 in a move that further angered the opposition People's Alliance for Democracy, but despite protests and violence in the Thai capital this week, the Thai Foreign Ministry had insisted as late as Thursday afternoon that Somchai's trip was still on.
A bilateral meeting would still go ahead attended by the Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Thai Foreign Minister Sompong Amornwiwat, Bunthuoeun said.
"The delegation will arrive Monday morning, attend a meeting to discuss the border issue and other bilateral issues as scheduled, and leave the same day," he said.

To win war we must be strong in all sort of ways.
Our oil will be pumping in 2009-2011 ahead to come.
We will become a battery of Southeast Asia.
And now we already to put our country's plan with Nuclear Power Plan.
This plan put Thailand worry abit.
Khmer will rise and strong which the rest of ASEAN wouldn't believe.
All we need to educate our younger generations more and more so they can have better future.
Plus we will also the rice bowl of this region.
Now look at the recent news. The Kuwait, Quatar and soon more Middle East region will ask us just set up an agriculture for them.
We have plenty of lands just to cultivate rice.
Altogether, we will be the second banker in Southeast Asia after Switzerland.

If Siams intend to invade, no matter how much you keep saying "give peace a chance" they will still do it. You have to prepare for the worst case scenario - when you are pushed to last corner. Freedom and glory do have costs associated with them.

cambodia has to protest somehow to thailand for violating the international law on border issue with cambodia. and we must protest the pad thugs for creating a lot of problem between cambodia and thailand, who otherwise make friends, instead of fighting! look, cambodian gov't made afford to control protestors and rioters, unlike the thai gov't which seems to allow the pad thugs prostest without knowing when to stop or enough is enough already! maybe cambodia gov't should do the same like the thai gov't to allow the protestors in phnom penh to go on forever like the pad thugs are doing just that in thailand. however, i think cambodia is smarter than that to let the protestors continue nonstop like that in thailand!

A different idea of understnd about what is happening in thailand. The real democracy is at work in thailand because thai use their brain to solve the problem instead of violent.
The thai government and thai armies want to creat and make border conflick with cambodian government for two reasons. First, the thai government and thai intellegents know there are so many ordinary cambodians and politicians inside and outside cpp don't like and affraid of sadam hun sen mafia government. This conflict is open the door for an esape safe place for those cambodians who feel unsafe from their mafia murderer government. If it's to happen the thai can use cambodians to fight with cambodians.
Second, china is behind and support the thai government and armies because both governments know that vietnames government and soldiers still occupy both cambodia and laos. It's a great security threat to both thailand and china future when vietnamese fully colonize both cambodia and laos. The thai and chinese government also learn from vietnamese government how to invade and swallow its neghbors. The thai government want to invade and take cambodia land one small piece at a time. And the chinese do the same thing to vietnam by taking vietnamese land one piece at a time because chinese know vietnamese won't dare to ask the U.N for help. There are so many vietnamese think that chinese is the main problem for vietnam to fully colonize its neighbors.
