[Cambodian-American,] Please go out and vote for your Candidates

Tuesday, October 07, 2008
Op-Ed by Jayakhmer On the web at www.modernprogressivekhmer.blogspot.com

As a Cambodian American, I urge you to vote in this historical election. I am not here to advocate for any political party. I am here to encourage your participation in the political process.

Please allow me to share with you the state of the campaign.

As Sen. Obama and Sen. McCain prepare for their second presidential debate, the campaign has been taking a significant turn. For the last few weeks the turn has been in favor of the democratic nominee, Sen. Barack Obama.

Although one day is a long time in politics, election polls and electoral maps, thus far, paint a trouble outcome for the McCain/Palin ticket. Less than a month before the election, the Gallup tracking poll has Sen. Obama leads Sen. McCain by 8 points with Sen. Obama at 50% and Sen. McCain at 42%.

The CNN electoral map also confirms Sen. Obama's significant lead. As of today, Sen. Obama has 264 Electoral Colleges and Sen. McCain has 174. A candidate needs 270 to win the election. Based on the map, the 14 blue states are safe for democrats. Those states account for 177 Electoral Colleges and 10 democratic leaning states that account for 87 more.

Sen. McCain has 16 red states that he could count on for voting republican in November and that represent 125 Electoral Colleges and 6 republican leaning states that represent 49 more.

That would leave Nevada with 5 votes, Colorado with 9 votes, Missouri with 11 votes, Ohio with 20 votes, Virginia with 13 votes, North Carolina 15 votes, and Florida with 27 votes as tossup states.

Sen. Obama has to win just one of these tossup sates to win the election in November, but Sen. McCain has most of the tossup states to get to 270.

According to USA election battleground state polls, Sen. Obama leads in Colorado, Virginia, North Carolina, and Florida.

Twenty-nine days before is a long time. Anything can change the dynamic of the race. The debate tonight could be a game changing, albeit the fundamental issue for this election is the economy. And analysts agree that as long as the country remains deeply mire in economic issues the democrats and Sen. Obama will win the election.

Based on that prediction, I do not see that the country will solve its economic issues in 29 days.

Please exercise your rights and vote your conscience.

Jayakhmer

We are living in an interesting time. It is happening right before our very eyes as if it is playing in a movie that an African American man, Mr. Obama, is likely to be sworn in as a Commander in Chief to lead this great nation.

In the months ahead, I'd predict, there will be very interesting scenarios unfolding "gradually but rapdily" that the whole world may fall in the dark hour of history of mankind. We'll watch and see. Prepared will you be? But what will you do?

I have the feeling that American people want to see someone new, African American President. What do you think?

Some Khmer Americans always think that if we vote for this or that candidate to be the president, he will help our country away from Hun Sen. Please stop dreaming about that. American government will help Hun Sen as long as he coopperates and benefits America. We all has been living long enough in USA and we see how the USA policies toward Cambodia and all countries in the world.

Vote for whoever will help you, your family and people here in USA.

Every thing is politic. What is happening right now in financial inststutions in the U.S was well planed a long time ago. If people think otherwise, they're more wrong than right. The U.S policy is to not let any country in the world keep the U.S dollar in the way that it gain value in the future. Therefore, the U.S government has to devalue the dollar. When the dollar is devalue, any country that has dollar has to spend it.
As for the election in the U.S, american has come a long way a country of diversified races. So,now race and color are the discrimination of the past history. American is moving forward will elect whoever to be the president as long as that person is using the brain to lead the country instead of praying to god for help.

I need your help. Why they call US president residential as a WHITE HOUSE.May be this house is for rent but just for the white only or what?Help Prum Manh to answer this joke.

To a certain extent I have to agree with you. You have brought up an excellent point, but I just dont believe the US government intention is to devalue the dollars because most of the riches in the world are Americans such as Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, Sam Walton and a whole lot more. There are alot of problems as we know it but most has to do with the collapse of the housing market and bad lenders to which I blamed most of all the brokers or realtors.

But not them alone would contributed to the cause of this collapse, but it is also a combination of bad management from corporate america such as Leahman Brothers and AIG. These companies are taking more risks than profits. They are trading based on future tradings and this is very dangerous. These companies believe that the US economy will not collapse in short terms investment, but not when you have a war in Iraq spending billions of dallars per month, this would also contribute to the collapse of the US economy.

Regardless of what will happen in the next 6 months, United States still has more wealth than anywhere in the world. If you ask everyone from around the world...they prefer to have dollars than other currencies, beside, the pounds.

The US has learnt so much from the Great Depression in Black October of the 1929. Therefore, nothing that the US has not encountered. This country is the master of disceptions and subversions. So not to worry. Soon something will appear from nowhere and save the day. What you should worry about is what will happen after Barrack Obama got elected to the White House. That is the most dangerous event to which it has not yet submerge from the back of my head, but I believe should there be a nazi or one of those lose screw...they might just do something that would place US in great danger and that is racial equality should something happen to Barrack Obama.

Think about that seriously. Look what happened to South Central LA and in Chicago because of racial inequality.

I thank you.

to 6:47 AM: Tell Prum Manh, they will pain it in Black when the time come. May be soon or later. Today politics is a fool both democrat and republican. They all crooks. We are in a long haul of the fuck up economy. Hold your breath and may be dead before we can breath again. Dow is going below 10,000 and NASDAC is below 2,000 now. Got milk?

Russia and US is bullying each other now. Nuclear race is on again. Got nuke?

Go go Obama and don't look back!!!

Barack Obama, as he has said, will sit down and talk with the enemies of this great land if he were the US president. Iran for one. Iran is not yielding to the world pressure that it must abandon its embition of developing the nuclear energy.

The world, Israel and the US in particular, fears that the nuclear energy the Theran is building and insisting it is used for a civilian purpose may be used to instead build the nuclear warhead which can destabilize the region and thus at a certain point and time plunge the whole world into the dark(est?) hour of mankind history. A great war will unstoppably, but not unexpectedly, burst out in full scale.

Forget about economy, about Wall Street or Dow Jones or your 401K. Just live as you're now and care for your family in the meantime. These are small things that will NOT affect you & your family much.

But the world affair that we all should pay attention to. If the next president of the USA, at the helm, makes wrong moves in dealing with all adversaries of this great nation we may see the raise of chaotic moments in this great land even before joint attacks from all enemies on our society.

This time the people of the USA may experience all sorts of great concerns or even great fear in every city and town where we all live. Some thing big is creeping in like the rising rain water.

Ensue the chaotic moments there will be shortages of "this & that" which would make our lives more difficult and worrysome. Many of us may be in a state of panic.

Israel is poist to attack the nuclear sites in Iran. But it has fear that the Russia may have already delivered a great number of the S-300 anti aircrafts missels to Iran.

Will the next president of the USA back Israel in strikes against Iran? Will then the whole world plunge into dark(est?) hour in history of mankind? Will the WWIII ensue - the end of man civilization??? We are truly living in an interesting time.

Jayakhmer, you spoke like a true politician.

"I am not here to advocate for any political party. I am here to encourage your participation in the political process."

While the above paragraph tells me you are not truthfull,

"Twenty-nine days before is a long time.

Please exercise your rights and vote your conscience."

This last paragraph told me you tried to tell people to vote for the democratic.

I'd rather you came out honestly and courageously saying you believe in Obama and urge everybody to vote Democratic than being sneaky with the nonsense "I'm not here to advocate..."

How about this for a change? "The public sucks. Fuck Hope. Garbage in. Garbage out." -George Carlin

Obama is too dangerous to be President. Nobody really know who he is and what is really doing. Hope American people see that and aren't stupid enough to vote for stranger like himself. They should go for Mr.McCain instead. Trust should matter the most and more than anything else in the world. Who cares about the economy? when you're such in great danger of handling the highest office in the world to a man names Hussein. Come on! Many of us only want to live in the land of free and trustworthy people, America!

The US simply not ready for a black man to make history.

A Muslim or ex-Muslim must not be trusted.

When you go to the polls, remember to vote Obama out, and vote McCain in.

See what I said about the public sucks? Only ignorant and paranoid people will fear Obama. You wouldn't consider the guy just because of his name? That really shows how bright you are. Btw, Barrack is German name, all you paranoid white-washed. I don't care who wins or loses but if you are gonna vote or not vote for someone, educate yourself about the candidate beyond what they feed you from the news. The problem with most Americans is that they believe everything they see or hear and never question or take the time to investigate the subjects. Educate yourself and be a better informed individual. That's the way to vote intelligently.

White house is belonged to american citizens and for any color elected president. The white house is a symble of clean house and for the highest office of the president of the united states of america.

7:04 am
Those names you mentioned, Bill Gates, Warren Baffet and Sam Walton like to have dollars devalue and inftation because it's an opportunity for them to make more money. If you follow Warren Baffet lately, He invested $7 billions with Goldman and Sachs and $3 billions General Electric. Bill Gates bought back his own company stock for $40 billions. When these kind of investment put to work, the stock and dollar will be value again. But it's not good for ordinary people live from pay check to pay check. But it's a dream for rich investor.

We -- Americans and Cambodian-Americans -- do not trust a black man to run the United States, and this black man will never make history. Period!

Do you know why we called "WHITE House," and not "BLACK House?" Of course, you've already known the answer -- and I don't like to repeat myself.

Again, a black man has no place for the presidency inside the White House.

If George W. Bush (if the constitution permits)runs for a third term, I'd rather rehire him to run the country -- this a black man.

The United States simply and fundamentally do not trust a person with a strong Muslim ideology.

Yes, I can reassure you that I -- and the rest of my colleagues -- will vote Mr. Ma-bump-bar out of for the upcoming election.

McCain, you're in! Muslim is not my (kind) cup of tea.

Perhaps we do not like the color of his skin and his past affiliation with the Muslim.

No, I do not like the color of his skin -- so does his name!

History will never be made (at least -- not inside the 'White House')

Troops out of Iraq? Are you madly insane?

Are you for the US occupation of Iraq like Vietnam occupation of Cambodia?

To all of those that wrote they don't like black people, least of all have one of them be President. You should realize that in the U. S. Cambodians are people of color the same as black people. Joe Six-Pack and Hockey Mom Sarah lumps them all together anyway, so think twice who you support.

Dear friend 10:21 AM

Unless the issue changes from ecomony to security, the race is over.

That was the message I was implying. People should vote for their candidates.

To all cambodian american,

We are all living in a world of diversified race now. It doesn't matter where you live you always see people different race living among you. I am strongly believed that in the U.S has the best system to elect the leader, representative and the president. It's not perfect but it's the best in the world. As a citizen of this great nation we all have a duty to elect our leader, representative and president. We should not prejudge the persons base on the color of their skin. It should be base the contents of their speech. If you're vote for the president now, you need to think who will best to serve you, your family and the country better. I believe america has come a long way, as a diversified races country, prejudice and discrimination are thing of the past now. We should only vote for the president who use the brain to lead and solve the problem that are facing the citizen and the country every day. As I look back in american history, we need to thank the black man Dr martin Luther king for the freedom and peace we have in america today.
I will vote for Barak Obama because he's smart, well educated and he'll use his brain to help america and its citzen for better future.

The videos below do show the real democratic country and the freedom of media. A while ago, there was the case of defamation about the guy so called Hor Namhong. The guy and his CPP, Hun Sen should learn from this.

To 1:02pm.

There is more than just a name. Here are several reasons that my vote will be more heavyly toward McCain.

1.TRUST

2. He approach the world better. Another word, Obama seems naiive.

3. More freedom. Yes, President Ronald Reagan said that freedom is one generation away from exstinct. If we are not careful or fighting for it, we can just spending our time at Sun Set with our children wondering what freedom will be like and it's so true. Remmeber those times with Pol Pot? We had so much fun right? Sure? ( get these sarcactic comments? ).There are those big ego people that say they are this and that, but the true is they will run our freedom to the ground. The next thing you and I know, we're ending up living in world worse than we were living with The Khmer Rouge or Pol Pot. No way! and that what it seems like with Obama. Regulation! regulation! and regualtion! Mightas well say: controling! controling! and more controling. Damm Right! That's all. Soon or later, we won't have anything left like all of those of our unfortunate people that are living their lives during KR's Era or people in China or Russia or Cuba and in some of those countries that were ruled by the dictators. Don't want that. Nop. Worse, yet if the Terrorist or the Extremist get a hold of the American country, we are all doom. Done & finish!

4.Less tax ( hopefully in McCain/ Term, there will be another $700 Billions bailed out again and when that time come, it will be all for the Ordinary American. So that they can get themself out of their debts, be able to go out and buy or spend again like a good old America do! the more you can buy and spend the more tax they will pay and go to straight to their government. Sweet! sweet! yes, very very sweet! That is my way of paying tax. The American are able to buy anything they want and at the same time helping their country by paying more tax and it's painless. Love it!

5. American stays in Europe to protect them from harm since after the WWII. Why not stay in Iraq as well? The American left vietnam, because of someone like Obama. Look at what happened to us. 2 millions were dead. Did those people cares? The same thing can happen to the Iraqi people. That's terrible!
Don't want to think about it.

6. Obama will pull the troop out of Iraq, but he will put them in Pakistan and Afganistan, because he believes that is where the Terrorists are hidding. They are along the boder of P & A. Don't you think that this will get the US into more trouble? He also not so careful with the Russia. The old cold war can come right back. McCain isn't.

7. Obama seems all talk and lame. Not enough of the comfort level for me to cast my vote for him. Nop.

8. His name is a little bit disturbing. Actually a lot. To vote for the American President that has the same name as the terrorist might as well let the US running by the Terrorist. No way!

9. The economy. What can Obama do to turn it around? President Bush had already did it with those $700 bailed out plus another $100 billions for the Ordinary American. It has to turn around one way or the other and soon or later.

10. Pailin & MaCain will drill and will let the American people do whatever they can to be the energy independence. If the American do it themself, they will do it best! They won't harm the envoronment like other countries that don't know much about the environment do. Therefore my vote go to McCain/ Palin. It's time to move beyond DEPENDING OF OTHERS and don't worry Al Gore, McCain / Palin will include you and make you the most important people in the world!!!

THE LIST CAN GO ON AND ON. White wash? Please think again.
