BEIJING (AFP) — The Thai and Cambodian prime ministers agreed during a meeting here on Friday that their nations would prevent any more armed clashes over a border dispute, their foreign ministers said.
Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen and his Thai counterpart Somchai Wongsawat, in Beijing for a summit of Asian and European leaders, met to discuss the tensions that have erupted into deadly clashes.
"The two sides have to advise our troops not to have confrontations any longer," Thai Foreign Minister Sompong Amornviwat told reporters as he summarised agreements made between the two leaders.
Cambodian Foreign Minister Hor Namhong, standing alongside Sompong, made similar remarks and described the atmosphere of the talks as "very good, very friendly."
"We are moving in a good track. Not only to solve the problem of the borders between our two countries but also on a good track to improve our neighbourliness and cooperations," Hor Namhong said.
Tensions between the two neighbours flared in July when an ancient temple on their border was awarded United Nations World Heritage status, rekindling long-running tensions over ownership of land surrounding the temple.
The situation quickly escalated into a military confrontation, with up to 1,000 Cambodian and Thai troops facing off for six weeks, although both sides in August agreed to reduce troop numbers in the main disputed area.
The Cambodian-Thai border has never been fully demarcated, in part because it is littered with landmines left over from decades of war in Cambodia.

Congratulation Somdech Hun Sen for your meeting and incorporating with Web Jiaboa.
I cannot speculate that your meeting with China's top leader in this time as well as previous ones are because of your independent political maneuver or it is because of you are permitted by Vietnam to tighten this tie with China.
In reality, Cambodia is critically under the political soft mechanism of Vietnam. It has strategically carried out by Vietnam leaders to pursue their political status quo in Cambodia through soft political structure and tactics, and construct this nation as the "Police State".
Cambodia national police department is considerably controlled by former VN spies, Cambodia national economics is majorly controlled by VN tycoons especially Angkor Watt concession...etc These are not included the CPP's base and structure which has relentlessly endeavored by Vietnam to build this very strong party in Cambodia.
However, it is the best choice for Cambodia to counterbalance with Vietnam and Thailand. Also, in this chance, Hun Sen can free himself as well as Cambodia from the political whim of Vietnam.
My sincere congratulation Hun Sen!

Outcome of meeting: same promises reached- the two nations would prevent any more armed clashes over a border dispute. But in reality, does Siam keep thier promises?
How much times do they need to normalise the border situation as the status before July 15??????
Siem withdrew troops from Cambodia's territories without any condition - this what you call successful. Cambodian government is very stupid.
Siem stepped on mine on our territory, they made big deal about it and blaming on Cambodia. What is about Siem shot Preash Vihear? Cambodian only plans to investigate...hahaha...
No matter how both of you agreed on not confronting by troops at the border but there is still doubt in the mind of people in both countries unless otherwise demarcation work is completed and clear in both side. I don't know how long will it take on such sensitive duty. Pls make it at soonest possible at your utmost effort.
I really do not understand the benefit of endless bilateral talks with high rank policy-makers. Is there anything left behind these tricky talks? Cambodians have negotiated many times with Thai counterparts. Yet a bloody result appeared. It does not matter me a shit of how many times they talk as long as Bitchy Thai don't attempt to wage another skirmish. Who are staying behind the border tension and conflict in Bangkok? Only two ladyboys, Anupong and King Abdul, who are old dogs. Naturally, dogs never forget shit even if they are well fed in a rich palace.
Thus, if one is dismissed and another one is overthrown, perhaps these two countries can stay in peace. May these two go to hell soon.

I'm not even gonna spend hours giving you reasons why Cambodia insist on bilateral talks. The main reason is we are economically dependent, especially on Thai business. You can't see the life-line because you don't live in Cambodia. Just let the politicians do their work. They are looking out for the best for Cambodia. That's why they hold their temper and just suck it up.
On this photo we see that the attitude of the Siamese S.A is more aggressive than his Khmer counterpart.
Hor Namhong is not in the KR trial yet? Tep Vong you hand stained with blood of the innocent people.
The Siam Foreign Minister looks incompetent and probably not even sure what his position is... lack of information or support from their parliament. He's probably be there for a cup of tea, lunch, dinner and breakfast. Thailand is a nation of bandit and thug.
