HANOI: The Vietnamese government said on Friday it had approved an investment fund to finance oil exploration projects at home and abroad by state oil monopoly Petrovietnam.
The government said in a directive it would use about 10 per cent of the royalty from crude oil sales to contribute to the oil exploration fund but did not disclose the value of the fund.
Petrovietnam would also contribute 10 per cent of its annual after-tax earnings to the fund, the directive said.
Petrovietnam has been searching for oil assets abroad including exploration projects in Russia, Algeria, Mongolia, Iran, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia and Indonesia.

what is vietnam trying to show or do in cambodia? they can't even get their own house in order, let alone trying to assist cambodia. talk about just boastful show by vietnam!! i think cambodia needs to look way beyond vietnam or thailand for anything and everything. these neighboring countries still have a lot of work with cambodia in order to win the love and trust of the khmer people, given they stole a lot of khmer lands and territories during the dark ages when khmer princes and princesses were too busy fighting each other in a royal family dispute that these neighbors took advantage of cambodia of that time. that still rankle khmer people forever to come. plus, that alone gives khmer people legitimate excuses not to trust these neighboring thieves.
