The HRP's Reach Samrach and Lim Rathanak, and the NRP's Keo Sothea say govt's overwhelming support demands allegiance
TWO members of the opposition Human Rights Party and a third from the Norodom Ranariddh Party announced their defection to the Cambodian People's Party on Tuesday, just hours after HRP founding member Keo Remy embraced the ruling party.
Reach Samrach, chief of finance for the HRP, and his deputy, Lim Rathanak, told the Post Wednesday they agreed to defect to the CPP without conditions or expectations.
Keo Sothea, an NRP stalwart and publisher of the Voice of Khmer Youth newspaper, also announced his allegiance to the CPP.
Reach Samrach said that he submitted a letter to CPP leaders seeking permission to join the party, but that he has yet to receive a response.
"I cannot walk contrary to the CPP leaders when they have received so much support from the Cambodian people," he said.
Lim Rathanak told the Post he also defected without conditions and did not seek a position in the new government.
Meanwhile, Keo Sothea said Wednesday he could not continue as a member of the NRP because it would no longer have any political clout following last week's resignation of its leader, Prince Norodom Ranariddh.
"After [Prince Ranariddh] quit politics, I saw that the NRP would be weak, so I could not stay," he said.
Senate Vice Chairman Tep Ngorn told the Post he will preside over a ceremony today to formally recognise the defectors as CPP members.
In the run-up to the July 27 national polls, the opposition suffered unprecedented defections to the CPP, which won 90 of the National Assembly's 123 seats.

These people are looking for the winner.
They are not standing on fundamental foundation in which they previously believed.
It is good for them to swift side to join the winner for their own sake but they can't be trusted (CPP know that). They will swift side again if (I SAY IF)CPP is no longer strong.
Hey dude,
switch side. not swift side.
can't understand what you saying.
Peace!
I went to Cambodia just right before the election. I asked their HRP Office i could observed their daily function becuase I'm writing a story.
I saw first hand how Kem Sohka lead HRP down. He's too self-serving. I saw how he only promote his own image. How he think of himself, he's NOT humble. His speech lacks substance. His HRP lacks record. He needs time in office to build the foundation, the trust and most of all history.
Hey, I am easily sold, keep telling me story.
oOK 4:05am, A DONG 9vIET MOTHER FUCKER CURRENCY)
Just for money and good position only.
For sure not just for the country.
If you thing people support ah Hun Sen
you are wrong. Ah Hun Sen stole the votes.
I want to see HRP strong and I want to see SRP strong. These latest defections don't serve khmer interests or any of the patriotic khmer at all. The fact that many of the high profile HRP members defected too early after they just joined and helped form the party say something about their confidence in the party and its leadership. We all know that these defectors do it for power/position/money but i try to look at other angle if it exists at all. Well that's why the khmer people lose faith in the politicians and there comes the saying "Kdor ah na kor douch kdor ah na". And thus it makes it hard for the politicians with good faith to help better the country and the people since the ill view towards the khmer politicians is so dwelt in the khmer people.
Wrong planet!
Ah Reach Samrach is not a good person, let him go.
Ah Reach Samrach and Ah keo Remy are the same people.
They have no ability to help the country.
Yeah, he would be a good person if he stayed.

You are the one gone to virtual school online.
What a shame!!!
Yes, I am doing rigth now. there is no shame to learn more and more.
Today technology going in a very fast rate. Online learning is no shame. I do it every day to keep myself up to date with technology for my business.
Contrary, some idiot think he knows every things, he learns every things and nothing else above him and he feels ashame to learn more. That is why Cambodia is ways ways behind the rest of the world. You give example like this to your next generation, how can Cambodia advance to the next level?
Take a moment and look back to your certificate or degree, none of the other country accept them even some of our own people. Look at the top architech they use to build hotel and building, must be from Ah Chor Thai, Singaporian, Malaysian Oversea people. Who will use your Undersea people.
I am not writing this comment to look down on our Khmer people but to tell you the truth so you can wake up and learn either online or offline or with what ever you can to help yourself and to help Cambodia develope.
