Former king Norodom Sihanouk will send donations to the families of the three Cambodians killed in combat with Thai soldiers last week, as well as families of the injured, an official said.

Families of the three men killed will each receive $1,000 and of those injured $500, said Royal Palace cabinet member Oum Daravuth.

Fighting between Cambodian and Thai units near Preah Vihear temple broke out at three separate sites Wednesday led to the deaths of three soldiers and an increase in tension in an ongoing border standoff.

Defense Minister Tea Banh said he had received information from the Royal Palace and was now giving money to the families.

“There is the donation from the king father, and the government has also helped a lot with the families,” he said.

I am very proud of those brave Khmer soldiers who have sacrisfied their lives protected our beloved land, the land of our mother. At all cost, we have to protect it.
I also welcome all the supports from the government of Cambodia, the king and other supporters who have Khmer blood running in their veins. However, the lum sum of money is pretty big for the 3 families who lost their beloved husbands and fathers. What I am trying to say now is that IF THE MONEY IS NOT HANDLE PROPERLY, IT MIGHT KILL THE WHOLE FAMILY. We have to worry about the safety of the families because robbery is not uncommon in the our country now. I hope the authority knows what to do in order that the family can use the money safely, and the money will not add more sorrow to the families.

Cambodians are blinded with nationalism, they never see the real problems facing them. By the time they know, it was too late, they rally behind yuon who pretend to be Khmer. The Thais in Preah Vihear was an invertstion, and the only bloodbath are Khmer. Look at who's commanding these soldier when they are yuon. Look at your government.
