(BangkokPost.com) - Supreme Commander Songkitti Chakkabatr denied rifts between the armed forces and the government, saying that they can work well with the premier.
His statement came after army chief Anupong Paojinda made a call during a TV talk show on Thursday that Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat should step down to take responsibility for the Oct 7 violent clashes between police and anti-government protesters.
Gen Songkitti also revealed Thursday that his meeting with Mr Somchai on Wednesday is mainly about border conflict between Thailand and Cambodia.
When asked if Mr Somchai gives any special suggestion to the armed forces, he denied, saying that there is nothing that the premier is concerned about.
