DUE TO THAI CONFLICT
Cambodian restaurant changes name

PHNOM PENH -- A restaurant in Cambodia's capital has changed its name in the wake of a bitter border dispute with Thailand, local media reported Saturday.

The Olympic Khmer-Thai, a joint venture between Cambodian and Thai businessmen, has added an "l" to its title -- becoming Olympic Khmer-Thlai. Thlai" translates as "expensive" or "noble".

The restaurant, based near Phnom Penh's Olympic market, changed its name before deadly border clashes on Wednesday between Thai and Cambodian troops.

But the decades-long dispute, over ownership of an area close to the ancient Preah Vihear temple, has been escalating over the past few months amid mounting nationalist tensions on both sides.

"The reason why the restaurant, set up in 2006, was named "Khmer-Thai" was that it is partly owned by Thai businessmen and has some Thai chefs," a restaurant representative told the Khmer-language Rasmei Kampuchea newspaper.

"The change came after the on-going conflict between Cambodia and Thailand because we are afraid it will cause future problems to our restaurant," he said.

These thai soldiers are young and inexperience,if the khmers soldiers display a little courage and try to catch them, they will abandon their post and run aways for sure.

The artilleries aim at o degree, which means we Thai are ready to do the close battle with khme.
At this time we will use all the heavy weapons and Tanks to fire at the khme enemy and to liberate our Thai land back according to the Map's 1902,1904,1907 which means the border was located at Svay Daun Keo.

Don't blame US or any other countries. Khmers must blame the rampant corruption, the unwillingness of the current leaders to not put the anti-corruption law with the law enforcement. Khmer could shot the Siam since day one but where's the army? Only the number in the paper and those soldiers are poorly-equiped and disciplined.
What on earth is the quality of these soldiers? Isn't that because of the corruption and deficiency of the ruling gov.t???

The problem is also with current Khmer leader who want to show off against historical aggressor. The incident would not have happened if the government requested the UN for intervention in July. It's not too late to request for their help in order to avoid bloodshed. Either side is Khmer. Only Khmer surins are in frontline. That's reason why Khmer didn't kill those captured soldiers. My concern is that many young Cambodians quited their school to enlist for military service. We need them to build a strong Cambodia if peace can be achieved. Hun Sen should wake up and go for UN or EU's help. You can still go for golfing, digging wells for the poor, and let the UN do the job. Only international policy can stop thieves.
