(BangkokPost.com) - The Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs said foreign diplomats understand the border situation between Thailand and Cambodia.
Department of Information director-general and Foreign Ministry spokesman Tharit Charungvat said Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs Veerasak Futrakul had spent about 45 minutes to clarify the Thai-Cambodian border dispute to eight Asean ambassadors to Thailand on Wednesday.
According to Mr Tharit, the permanent secretary explained the incident when two Thai soldiers were wounded and had legs amputated after stepping on a landmine in Thai territory near Preah Vihear temple on Oct 3.
After inspection, the landmine was found to be a Russian-made PMN2 landmine. The Thai government claimed that the country never used this type of landmine before and it was recently planted.
Mr Tharit said the foreign ambassadors expressed their understanding on the tense conflict between Thailand and Cambodia and they thanked the ministry for promptly clarifying the situation.
The delegates from Singapore and Indonesia expressed special concern over the border row, and they would like Thailand and Cambodia to be considerate in solving the problem.

If the area as has been occupied by the Thia for 20 to 30 years now, according to the Thia foreign minister, then how is it possible that Khmer RECENTLY planted these mines? The flip flop Siam will continue to lie and manipulate everybody.
that's right. Considering A Cruel Siem have no regards for life and would shoot anything that move, it is hard to believe that these minds were newly planted in Siem territory..
Asean are dumb fool if they naive to believe that these bombs weren't used by Thai thus they were newly planted rather then seeing the obvious that A Siem stepped into Cambodian territory that was filled with Landmine used for for civil war.
You never planted in your territory, but here in Cambodia we have. So you just step into Cambodia if you stepped on a land mine. Congratulation a Siem. Send more legs!
Hun Sen: Stop negotiating with these Thais criminals!
I think all diplomatic in SA will understand the situation. If they patrol the old route as usual, why they stepped on land mine? they have their route map for military or not? I am laughting on this point.
They think they are too smart to lie to those asean members. I think even the children in Primary school these days can work it out better. Keep on doing, no one believe you idiots!
Everyone one is turning their gun to Thailand and forget to blaim Hun Sen is a puppet of Vietnam, That's why the hstory will always repeat. Cambodian will always be provoked by the neighbours and resort to other for the help. If we can peacefully resolve the problem, it is much better to go for ceding land to other in return for a winning war.
