The Cambodian Buddhist community in Rochester has scheduled a two-day celebration to commemorate what members believe is an apparition of the Buddha on temple grounds.
The Dec. 6 and 7 events will celebrate a wasp nest shaped like a seated Buddha that is tucked into the eaves over the entrance to a temple building. Monks and others in the Cambodian Buddhist community have called the nest a miracle, leading to national media attention.
The Dec. 6 event will begin at 6 p.m.; festivities start at 8 a.m. Dec. 7 and continue into the afternoon.
"It's just a celebration for the Buddha," said community member Tracy Sam. "We want everybody to know they are invited to the temple to help us celebrate."
The wasp nest, which members of the community have been calling a beehive, was noticed early this month. Beehives appear to have a special significance in Cambodian Buddhism: Honey collecting is a common activity in Cambodia, where Buddhist temples feature honeycomb-shaped towers.
Monk Moeun Ngop, 76, pointed to a colorful painting on the temple grounds of a monkey giving a honeycomb. He says the painting is a sign that the Buddha-shaped nest isn't a coincidence.
Experts who have examined photos of the nest say that the temple's eaves are an ideal place for a wasp nest to be located. There is nothing extraordinary about the nest's shape, they said.
The Buddhist Support Society's temple is at 4462 29th St. S.E. in Rochester.

At first, I don't believe it. Last week I decide to went to Rochester to see with my own eyes. Yeah! It's real. But it just similiar to a Buddha-shape.

the wasp nest is there, but why bother with a 2 day celebration? Simple, the fools who run the Temple in Rochester, MN are just doing another fundraiser so their young monks can live a materialistic lifestyle.
I'm from Rochester and the guy who helps run it--Vichara Loth and his opportunist wife, Sheena, are a bunch of fools.
This couple have no respect for hard-working Cambodian Americans. Instead they get jealous when others are getting somewhere in life. They may "support" Cambo-Americans through their involvement with the temple, yet, at the same time they try to hurt their own Khmer people by filing false reports to certain governmental entities like Social Security.
Don't support this Temple! The previous president couldn't even take care of his own kids! Trouble with the law and the oldest girl was a stripper! She poppin', she rollin, she rollin, she climbin' that pole. LOL.
According to Buddhism.Buddha is in nirvana.Nirvana is the ultimate goal of Buddha who saw so much suffering in human form and never want to be born again .Nirvana mean nothing or no more born or no reincarnation.Why our lord buddha descend from nirvana and become a wasp nest.It's just ridiculous.

Only old Khmer people are believing the recarnation of life after death. I personally don't believe in it. The nest just made up from the bee for their hive. So why stupid people relate this nest to the Buddha. Are they insulting the Buddha? Keep imagination and believing it shapes like Buddha, but to me, it shaped like Chinese fat Buddha for fat guy. As Napalese believe 18 years old boy is a recarnation from Buddha and they let the boy bless them. They also claim that boy could imitate in the jungle for 3 months without eating. Ah Kwak keep burning down poor khmer homes and grabbing their lands, but do nonething with Ah Youn and Ah Siem. Every month he visited Youn prostitutes to give more land to Hanoi.
