Cambodian chief of police Hok Lundy died in a helicopter crash Sunday night along with one general and two pilots, the country's government spokesman Khieu Kanharith told reporters.
The accident occurred around 0800 p.m. local time (1300 GMT) in Svay Rieng province, according to police source.
Hok Lundy was on his way from the capital to his native province of Svay Rieng accompanied by the general and two pilots.
The private helicopter fell down about 80 km southeast of PhnomPenh, the source said.
Hok Lundy's body was almost blown into pieces and is now being carried to Phnom Penh, it added.
Meanwhile, Khieu Sopheak, spokesman of the Interior Ministry, told reporters that radio contact was lost with the helicopter 15 minutes after it took off from the Phnom Penh International Airport around 0720 p.m. local time (1220 GMT).
The cause of the crash remained unclear, but the spokesman cited heavy rain as a possible factor.

Khmer should take one day off as national holiday
I see this incident as a chance to reunite Khmers. If all Khmers show their love to Hun Sen than the VNs do, we would be able to bring Hun Sen back to the Khmer families. Otherwise, there will be more Hok Lundi who will come and destroy Khmers. Hun Sen visits VN is welcomed with red carpet, but when he visits the west, he is welcomed by Khmers with Demonstration. You are out of your mind, man. According to RFA, he plan was hit by thunder, when it was about to land. This is the worst kampear, according to victim's wishes and curses. I am sure many victims's families put a curses on him to be hit by thunder, and the pryaers were answered spot-on.

According to my observation and debate with my friend was a helicopter pilot on this accident,we are come up with a conclusion that accident was not cause by a lightning or bad weather or mecanical problem at all.If the accident was causing by 3 things above the pilot can manage this small helicopter to land somewhere or it possible crash death but the body will not be torn apart like this.Another possible this helicopter may be hit by some object may be a missile.The plane and the passengers was blown up from the sky and brink everything down to earth like a picees of rock.Human body never torn apart like they mention on the news.Could black box tell the true.This is just an opinion only.

Human Rights Watch describes Hok Lundy as "represent(ing) the absolute worst that Cambodia has to offer", and says that "aside from his boss, Prime Minister Hun Sen, there is hardly anyone in Cambodia who has shown more contempt for the rule of law than Hok Lundy"[4]
Hok Lundy was killed on November 9, 2008, in a helicopter crash in heavy rain, along with General Sok Sa Em, the pilot and co-pilot.[5]

I hear you all and your anger towards Hok. However, the dead can neither speak, nor do something. The ones who are alive, Hun Sen and his followers, will continue causing troubles, I believe.
Anyway, I just wanted to give my opinions concerning the crash, which is according to modern technology, thunder and lightening can't crash a chopper and/or an aircraft. Because there's a security system that has been equipped and coated on the frame of the vehicle. Many years ago, a Boeing 747 was flying off from Tokyo Int'l Airport and got hit by a lightening when it's taking off, but the aircraft did NOT crash because the modern technology is really advanced in protecting airplanes from lightening and thunder. Thus, according to the casualty and the body/ies, I personally would say that this crash could have been caused by either a shot by a missile from the ground or the chopper has been secretly bombed (there's a bomb on the air craft). Thanks be to those heroically did this!
Please don't get me wrong that I'm neither an investigator nor an FBI. This is just a little idea for y'all to think about in your spare time. And I am merely a simple person just like you guys, but the one who really loves Khmer and proud to be Khmer. I'm on your side, yo!
