A dispute led to the confrontation between students and the management of the Phnom Penh Health Science University. The problem: a lower number of students were allowed to attend their first year of study.

About 200 demonstrators, all of them students, were standing in front of the entrance to their university since Wednesday 26 November. They denounced the fact that the university management reneged on its promises. The university promised to accept 1,000 out of the 1,500 students who are currently taking preparation classes. However, only 300 students were admitted this year.

A student denounced these false promises and she argued: “These results were announced late in the year. This prevented us from registering somewhere else in case of failure.” The students wished to see “an acceptable resolution to this problem.”

When reached over phone by Cambodge Soir Hebdo on Thursday 27 November, Oum Sophal, the dean of the university declared that: “up to now, no decision has been made yet. The management committee is currently holding a meeting to discuss this problem.”

Let them pass all, 1,000 or more. And in 7 years we will get more than 1,000 " Doctors Killers".

Education is not needed! HunSen and all Cpp leaders have set a good example, none of them hardly have finished high school but they are wealthy, billion dollars in the account and lived like a king! unlike some smart people hihgly educated works their butt off in usa and australia to make ends meet. law of the jungle prevails...do good get nothin' do bad get everythin'...it all lays on opportunity!

Student with poor grade must not be allowed to effect other students who are serious about their study.

We must think about quality and not quantity. If all of them were accepted to study at the Medical School, you will have no way to train professional and respected Doctors.

Their skill will be lower than Japanese robots who take care of the patients..

Those who did not get accepted did not pay enough or are not well connected as those who got accepted come from affluent families with ties to important cpp members or children are high ranking cpp themselves.

why did they accept more? because they do not want to return the bribes and pressure from those cpp families whose children failed the entrance examination.

The quality of cambodian doctors is terrible. Those who get a degree from any institution normally paid big bribes and have powerful connections.

Those who have money , run to thailand, vietnam, malaysia or singapore for medical assistance.
The not too wealthy or not too well connected have to be treated by these "home educated " doctors who bought their diplomas.

They need to hire qualified specialist as teachers also.

Even you think you say it's "quality and not quantity".... some students work their self really hard to pass the entrance exam and yet they didn't pass? A little bit ironic here. Rigged Grades, I'll tell you.
