The Thai embassy in Cambodia, representing the Thai king, on 1st November has organised a Kathen (a religious fund raising event) for Wat Prek Russey in Kandal province. Mr Chhun Syrun, governor of Kandal province, presided over the Kathen festival. On top of the donations from the Thai king, Thai officials and the Thai embassy, there were Khmer officials who have made donations to the Kathen festival as well. The Thai ambassador said that the Thai king wish to see progress in Buddhism, not only in Thailand but in neighbouring countries such as Cambodia as well.
This Kathen has raised 2 million riels ($US250) in Khmer currency, $US10,620 in US dollars and 200,000 baht ($US5,000) in Thai currency.
Kathen is the most important religious money raising event in Cambodia. This year’s Kathen started from the 15th of October to the 12th of November. During this time, all the Buddhist faithful will contribute money and donate goods to support the monks and for the maintenance and the development of the pagoda complex.

Although if mr Bhumibol Adulyadej really has good and sincere attention toward Khmer, he should try to stop animosities of the entire thais against Khmer people and try to dress this people to learn true history and face their responsibility than drown them more and more them in lay and paranoiac because this will turn back against the thais later or sooner. Yes, Bhumibol is just a figurehead king. Don't blame him for Cambodia's trouble with Thailand. It is the faults of the Thai military and some extremists elements within the opposition who want to kick Samak's ass but use the Preah Vihear issue to stir up the nationalistic sentiment. Remember, when Preah Vihear was awarded to Cambodia in 1962, Sarit Thanarat, the Thai dictator, refused to obey the ICJ's orders. It was King Bhumibol who intervened and told Sarith that that court's order was enforceable and therefore Thailand must abide by that court's order. Without King Bhumibol, Thailand might have occupied until today.

During the Khmer Rougr _Vietnam Invasion , Princess Sirindhon ortganized as big refugee center in ther provinvce of Trad across from Koh Kong, to rervceive Khmer refugees from Soiuth West Cambodia.
