The ministry of Health announced a larger number of student recruitments. Candidates to the school admission test held a demonstration to protest the low number of students admitted.
In a press conference held in the morning of Friday 28 November, Mam Bun Heng, the minister of Health, announced the measures taken to resolve the problem which took place for the last few days where students demonstrated in front of the Medical school. A meeting presided by Sok An, the vice-PM, was previously held to discuss about the demands made by the students.
The students, who were attending preparation classes, believed that they were wronged because only 364 of them were admitted to the Medical school. They were expecting that at least 1,000 of them would be accepted. “We accepted to recruit 507 additional students. For this, we had to accept candidates who received lower scores than planned. We have been tolerant, but we cannot lower too much the recruitment level. These are future doctors and health officials, we need them to be competent,” the minister declared.
The majority of the demonstrators were satisfied with this decision and they dismantled their demonstration. Nevertheless, Rong Chhun, President of the Cambodia Independent Teachers’ Association (CITA), wished that “the government could take a better resolution. These preparation classes cost a lot to poor families, it runs about $600 per year. If the candidate fails, that’s how much they have to lose, not counting a year of study.”

It is outrageous to accept pouk Ah Scam Rainxy losers, who failed the exam, into medical school.
Cambodia is a country controlled by Hun Sen, not by the procedure of rule....
Hun Sen can decide everything if he can gain popularity regardless of stepping on other's toes...
Hun Sen's Inc.
Hung Xen, Chea Xim, Sok Anh... all are yuon hanoi. They think they strong but they are all yuons. I know, 'cos they live in hanoi for long time and speak vn very well.
We must kick them back to hanoi. they not smart but stupid. we must do like PAD, demonstrate to kick them out of parliament.
also, Penh Panha is also yuon hanoi working slave dog for Hung Xen, Chea Xim, Sok Anh. I know 'cos his english is shit, and he very stupid.
Sam rainsy will make us strong again.
Kon khmer sralanh cheat.
I paid 2000 U.S. dollars to get into the Phnom Penh Medical School. The rest did not have that kind of money, so they did not make it.
Some teachers refuse to supervise exams as they do not want to witness mass cheating.
The exam subjects are given to those who pay.
Will they be good doctors in the future? They may kill rather than cure those who cannot afford to go to neighboring countries for medical treatment. The powerful and the rich will be fine but the others will surely suffer if not die.
“the government could take a better resolution. These preparation classes cost a lot to poor families, it runs about $600 per year. If the candidate fails, that’s how much they have to lose, not counting a year of study.”, that is a stupid remark. Are you going to go to the clinic or hospital where are those students gonna work. Probably not. They should not go to this school in the first place. And they should study hard enough to pass the exam.
LMAO, they even can not pass 25%, what do you expect Cambodian doctors do? Raising chicken in the farm
Medical schools should accept those incompetent students, no matter how much money they paid and how hard they have studied. Those students should do some research on how other medical schools (US) in other countries accept their admission. We have to go through a lot: being the top in undergraduate, having high MCAT (Medical College Assessment Test), and having to be interviewed from the medical school faculty and alumni. It is hell. Don't let me go to how much MONEY and TIME to do go through the process. I don't usually agree with any Ministries of Cambodia government, but this time, they actually did the right thing. Accepted only those who are qualified.
Damn, forget the word NOT in the first sentence!!!
There are doctors and surgeons
in cambodia they are quacks and butchers.
Its a fact. They are too busy opening their own private clinics to make money.
They forgot they took the oath of hippocrates.
11.08pm why should medical school accept imcompetent students? I totally disagree.. only the capable ones should be allowed to proceed and this is for the future of Cambodia. Those who pay money, rather than utilising their innate intelligence, should not be allowed to proceed as they are the incompetent ones!
