The joint venture between Cambodian pig processors and pig producers from Yorkshire in England, are going to build a US$4 million pork processing plant and abattoir.
The government assisted scheme, plans to process 10,000 pigs per day and they are investing US$5 million in breeding stock from the United Kingdom.
The British bloodlines, will enable the pigs to be slaughtered at 10 kilos per pig heavier, while the age and food intake will be the same as the current production.
Cambodian Senator Mong Rethby, said, "this is an initiative aimed at revolutionizing the pork industry in Cambodia", at a press conference.

It seems that only AH Mong Rethy has all the ideas in the world and can do something about it while dirt poor Cambodian people who are at the production line and have all the ideas but couldn't do anything about it!
It is such a shame that the whole Cambodia solely depend on AH Mong Rethy for progress!
Under AH HUN SEN dictatorship only the rich and the powerful have the opportunity to do anything including sucking the blood out of dirt poor Cambodian people!
This tactic is very cheap-sketch, dirty, dishonest and unfair to monopolize the market.
In order to monopolize the market when his farm is operational, Mong Rithy and his gangs are currently killing all the local pig farmers by allowing huge influx of low-price pig from Siam & Yuon. The local farmers can never compete with these chemical-food fed pigs because their process is clean & more natural which resulting in a higher price of their output.
This is financially a big lost to Cambodia because if all these local farmers colapsed then hundreds of thousands of jobs will be disappeared including direct (farm labourers) and indirect (other famers supplying related materials to pig farms) workforces.
Another great initiative from the rectangular strategy !
It is called the government assisted scheme. So, why the poor pig farmers are not in the government assisted scheme? The government is only helping fat pigs to get fatter.
Like this guy, Ung Bun Hov, who is running National Road 4 concession. After he apparently bought off one of the state IDD gateways, Ministry of Finance allocated a fat budget to train this company's staff to take over.
We should also build an animal slaughter house where these corrupt fat pigs will end up. It should cost the same as the normal pig on the chopping board.
Cambodian senators have business, do they have conflict of interest? Is there any law to prevent this conflict of interest?
All kinds of shit happen in the golden land. Oknha, senator, investor, advisor...all these titles for the same person - greedy/dirty/corrupt pigs.
So what, at least it is still better than the US where all you hear is Kennedy this, Kennedy that, Bush this, and Bush that, ....

Seriously, I must question why you feel compelled to put a negative spin on this development. This appears to be a positive business proposition that could provide job opportunities for Khmer citizens, make pork processing more efficient, and lower pork prices for ordinary Khmer people.
Mong Rithy, Kith Meng, and other Khmer business trailblazers, despite their flaws, have provided jobs for tens of thousands of our people and played essential roles in Cambodia's economic development.
I think we must applaud them for the contributions they make to Cambodia when they are doing the right things.
I have devoted more than two decades of my life to pursue my Ph.D. only to make a few hundred dollars a month. Yet, I am not envious of the fortunate people who make millions of dollars, live in huge villas, ride Lexus, etc.
Most Khmers aren't upset to see wealthy, successful Westerners and other foreigners, so why should be envious of successful Khmers?
This is very destructive attitude. As Cambodia's leading scholar, I urge Khmer people not to harbor jealousy toward fellow Khmers and to provide encourage and moral support to one another so that we may prosper together.

yes, poultry and meat consumption business is good. if cambodia lacks the big conglomerate, then good for mr. mong rithy to do so.
after all, there are lots of hotel businesses in cambodia and i'm sure they must get their poultry, vegetables, produce, meats, etc... from outside of the country, so perhaps, it is time for cambodia to produce our own to sell to these hotels, motels, etc...
