KI-Media Note: This article by King-Father is not properly posted on his website and cannot be read. Maybe somebody in his cabinet will read this message and fix this up!
On Wednesday 24 December, King-Father posted a 15-year-old message. Then-King of Cambodia, he rejected through this note the demands made by high advisors for privileges due to their rank. His gesture could shed some light to the recent nominations made by the royal palace.
Posting a message which was distributed on 26 December 1993, Norodom Sihanouk brought forth his management policy when he was still a king. According to this message, some of his high advisors asked the royal palace management to provide them with apartments, offices, cars with chauffeur and other privileges. Sihanouk’s reaction was sharp: “First of all, our state, royal palace and people are in a very difficult socio-economic, financial and budget situation, and they are not able to fulfill such demands. Second, these demands are not justifiable because, as important as your titles may be, they are mainly honorific and for protocol purpose. In truth, you don’t have any work to do in the royal palace,” King-Father stipulated in his message. The message also indicated that, from time to time, the king may provide an audience with his advisors to ask for their advice on one or more national affairs, but only the government assumes the responsibility for these affairs, not the king nor his advisors.
It is difficult to determine what pushed King-Father to post this 15-year-old message. However, it could be related to the recent nominations of 25 royal family members as advisors to King Sihamoni with substantial privileges attached to their advisor positions, titles which are equivalent to that of a minister, secretary of state or under secretary of state.

It seems like these days everyone in Cambodia is either an advisor or has an inflated number of advisors attached to themselves. For example, AH SAMDECH MAHA PLEUR HUN SEN has hundreds of useless advisors. And now KING SIHAMONI is allowing himself to have advisors from the even more useless royalists, i.e. THOMICO.
In addition to my own comment that I wrote on 2:40PM, ...it's fine to have advisors and lots of advisors if they benefit you and help you perform your job in a more efficient, intelligent, and highly strategical manner. However, most of these advisors in Cambodia are useless. Their titles and positions are really pointless. For the most part, they can't even give good advice and the majority of the time, they are hardly even summoned by the individuals that they are to advise. And it's very funny that these "advisors" want luxuries and privileges.
We have a lot/uncountable advisors speciliased in:
1- Making money to his boss
2- Fighting... killing...
3- Terrorsing
4- Using intellectuals..
6- .......

Hello Camrade N Sihanouk,
I think you very ill and you said you will die in hort time, but why are you still here and need so much advisors?
I and other khmer hope you will die soon and you must give a peace to khmer nation.
you are the real murder and you are the father of khmer rouge and finally you are the father of Hun Sen ( you should remeber in year 1993 as you returned to Cambodia )
All of your actions are inaceptable but you did learn from your mistake.
I think you and your kids and ... are so stupid. You never worry about khmer nation, you just think on your ownself. You destroyed o lot what khmer people have built by heard.
My please to you : Die soon, shut up, give peace to khmer nation and tell the true story WHO YOU ARE !!

As I said before: none of them are worthy to be hired to do anything; they are a bunch lazy and drunkards.
Everyone wants to be advisor in order to use that influence for other, probably BAD purposes. Former King is good at this point.
I have heard that you need to pay in order to be an advisor to the PM. So, if one advisor pays $500 a month, then 400 advisors will pay 500x400x12 = $2,400,000 per year to the PM. Where those money come from?
5:48 PM could be the person behind the e-mail using Ken Vannsak's name that was strongly in combat against king N. Sihanouk.
Right on mate, keep barking behind that monitor and smile. You yourself are a sick and coward amaniac. Shame on you mate.
1st. Cambodia leaders must be stupid to have a lot of advisor.
2nd. This is why cambodia failed in the first, second third time etc... because all Cambodian think and care about is NAMES, Title etc...
Some of peoples here are so pathetic.
In USA, they have maybe 50 000 000 advisors for the US
government. And Nobody complaint...
One of the best examples are CIA and NSA.
How many of them are really worth something?
Look at the examples of Iraq's reports before
USA attack Iraq. What is worthless ?
We, in Cambodia, as a King, has 400 advisors.
Are they really worthless?
Bring on your definition of worth and worthless.
Merry Christmas and happy holidays to all
guys and gals... cheers...
Long live and prosper for all Khmers...

I think Sihanouk is right about advisers. But it's best for the country not to have monarchy institution in the first place. It is undesirable and unnecessary. The prime minister is the law of the land.
rEAD iT????????????? AH RITH! don't be a fool!!!!!
i know, advisors are just that, they have no active role in gov't, just giving good advices! those, you said otherwise, seemed not to understand that system at all! usually, advisors are consist of retired statesmen, the very wealthy, etc... as they need something to do to keep their mind active. plus, everyone can always use their experties, skills, education, etc... i see nothing wrong with that! all ex-presidents of the USA are all advisors to the present president, if you know already. god bless cambodia.
oh, did i forget to mention that all advisors are volunteered individuals as well! thank you.
