Thai Parliament Selects New Prime Minister

BANGKOK — Thailand’s Parliament on Monday selected a new prime minister, Abhisit Vejjajiva, an Oxford-educated politician.
The longtime opposition Democratic party pulled together a coalition government that included defectors from the governing party, putting an end to the seven-year dominance of electoral politics by the former prime minister, Thaksin Shinawatra.
Mr. Abhisit, 44, is Thailand’s youngest prime minister.
Monday’s Parliament session followed seven months of turmoil during which protesters have demanded the resignation of the pro-Thaksin government, blockading the prime minister’s office in August and shutting down Bangkok’s international and domestic airports.
The protesters dispersed and left the airport Dec. 3 after the Constitutional Court disbanded the governing People Power Party for fraud during the 2007 election that brought it to power.
Local newspapers reported Monday that the Democrats — as well as their smaller coalition partners — had sequestered their members in hotels overnight to avoid them getting bribed to switch parties.
The incumbent Pheua Thai party, which holds the most seats and owes its allegiance to Mr. Thaksin, insisted before the session that it could still rope in enough votes to form a majority.
But recent days have been dominated by reports of defections from the party, particularly by a faction controlled by a close Thaksin lieutenant, Newin Chidchob.
In a telling moment that seemed to signal the end, for now, of the Thaksin era, Mr. Newin last week was reported to have told Mr. Thaksin over the telephone, “Boss, it is all over.”
Mr. Thaksin was ousted in a coup in September 2006 and is now abroad, avoiding an arrest warrant for a corruption conviction. He has traveled to Hong Kong, Dubai and Bali, Indonesia, after having his visa revoked in Britain.
The People Power Party was a reincarnation of Mr. Thaksin’s Thai Rak Thai party, which was also disbanded for electoral fraud, in May 2007. In both court actions, a total of nearly 150 party executives, including Mr. Thaksin and a successor as prime minister, Somchai Wongsawat, were barred from politics for five years.
The remaining loyalists reconstituted themselves as the Pheua Thai party, which still controlled the largest bloc of about 200 seats among the current 438 in Parliament, according to an analysis by The Nation newspaper.
The Democrats hold 167 seats and say they are ready to form a coalition government with 242 seats. A total of at least 220 votes is needed to form a government.

Abhisit is a billionnaire and he is the right hand of the King.
Come on red-shirt to do protest on the streets. It is your time to bring Thaksin back or they will destroy you.
The war is starting!
Abhishit, if you have ill-will toward the people of Cambodia, don't you dare set foot on Khmer soil!
Preah Vihear was built by a Khmer king for the people of Cambodia. The world court ruled that already in favor of Cambodia back in 1962. Don't use our temple for your political gains in Thailand, son of a bitch!
Srok khmer say........
Who give the fuck about this guy? Khmers only wonder why Hun Sen does not lodge the complaint about the border standoff to the UN or let the ICJ rule.
Or why Hun Sen does not want the third party to involve like the mediation offered by Indonesia and Malaysia before?
And here is my analyze:
1) the phase of indochinazation or vietnamization is significant than ever. YOUN illegal immigrants can flow into Cambodia freely and easily. The current gov.t (or better called the puppet gov.t) provide all necessary access and means for YOUN to settle in Cambodia and like other previous analysises, the number of YOUN will outnumber the khmer people in the near future, say in 10-15 years or the number will be enough to revolt and with protection from the viet gov.t (Look at South Ossetia in Georgia). And this time more cruel than ever before (in more and more cool manner of YOUN) the YOUN plans to annex and swallow the whole Cambodia and claim the extinction of Khmers.
Back to the border dispute with Thailand, the YOUN does not lose an inch of land or interest. The YOUN gov.t even provoke the fighting between the two countries so that the YOUN can deploy large number of troops in Cambodia the same to what it did when it claimed to come into Cambodia to rescue Khmers from Pol Pot Regime. And you can calculate the number of YOUN immigrants, including more and more illegal immigrants, so until now the number of YOUNs is large already. And no wonder why the current Khmer gov.t cannot seek assistance from the third party, say UN or Indonesia or Malaysia AND WHY THE GOV.T DOES NOT SEEK THE ASSISTANCE FROM THE RULE OF LAW LIKE ICJ, PARIS PEACE ACCORD AND ETC.
In conclusion, the mediator from third party like UN or assistance from the rule of law like ICJ or Paris accord will not be the good solution for YOUN gov.t at all since the two-best above solutions will provoke all internationally-recognized treaties that the YOUN will lose its interests say land encroachment so far and ESPECIALLY TO REVEAL ITS VIETNAMIZATION PLAN WHICH IS AT THE LAST PHASE ALREADY.
Now khmers the ball is at your feet and you must play it carefully this time. You can't afford to make anymore mistakes. And to demand the anti-corruption law and implementing the immigration law efficiently, cleaning the house of the gov.t and most importantly THE INTEREST OF THE NATION ON TOP OR ELSE YOU WILL CALL YOURSELF ALIEN LIVING ON YOUR OWN MOTHER SOIL.

Dear 1:05 PM,
I totally agreed with you on all points you brought up. You have mentioned on Vietnamization and land encroachment. However I think I have a few more points to add:
- Financially, Yuon will benefit the most because if fighting erupts then yuon troops will send over at the expenses of Cambodia. Khmer will owe greater debt to yuon which in turn more deforestation and other natural resource exploitation, land encroachment will be granted to yuon.
- Economically, if fighting happens then international investors and foreign tourists will not come to Cambodia and Siam but to Yuon.
It is all a WIN tactic for Yuon.
--- Abbisith is a son of a bitch. He is a part of the PAD that lost the last thai election and he still wants to be priminister. Deos it make sense to you?. Worst of all he told the first elected governmnent of Samak not to talk or agree with Canbidia on Prerah VInear, because Thailand may go back to World court again to reclaim Preah Vihear from us. This man is a lunetic, a lawyer from Oxford: he has no new proof that preah Vihear was built by Thai king, or belongs to Thai people, and the 9 years status limitation for going back to courts has long expired in late 1960's. He may be using Thai bully tactic of former Thai premier Samak again, we may not know. But he is not our friend, he is a PAD insider not a frend of Cambodia.

Abhisit is a devil.
Thai fortunetellers said the next Thai king would be Thaksin. Please wait and see.
Abhist's happy time will not be long.
No.
Abhisit is not the youngest prime minister in Thai history.
The late Mom Rajawongse Seni Pramoj (born 1905) was the youngest one who took office in 1945 at the age of 40.
All of the Thai prime ministers since Phraya Manopakorn Nititada (1932) up to the present have been of Chinese descent, with some exceptions of Prem Tinsulanond and Kriangsak Chomanan...and at least one is of Khmer descent, Khuang Aphaiwong, who was elected three times (1944-45,1946,1947-48).
Both His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand (born--June 9, 1946) and His Majesty King Father Norodom Sihanouk of Cambodia (born--October 31, 1922) share some Chinese ancestry. The founder of the Chakri dynasty Rama I, Phra Buddha Yotfa Chulaloke (1736 - 1809), was a Khmer commoner from Takeo provice (จังหวัดตาแก้ว)(south-western Cambodia) who killed King Taksin and crowned himself in 1782. He produced 42 sons and daughters during his seven-year reign. His Majesty King Father Norodom Sihanouk is also part Thai via his paternal grandmother(Preah Ang Mechas Norodom Phangangam 1874-1944)(พระองค์เจ้า นโรดม พงางาม)
There are chinese all over the place. There is no such as pure blood or race, except may be the chinese themself. It's the country that you live in which matter the most. Also how you behave and being loyalty to one own country. King Bhumibol or King Sihanouk would not dare celebrating the chinese culture like the chinese New Year etc... in his palace. That would be an ultimate insulting to thai or Khmer people. They can do thought is to contain love and respect for the chinese people and culture and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it.
Aphaiwong family could not make it in Cambodia, perhaps because of France or whatever. Shut his mouth until the day he died and never been able to acknowlegde himself as Khmer. Never.
Watch President Obama. Mother is American and father is Kenyan. What he can do, is to travel and do good thing to Kenya and the rest of African countries and he already did. With Ms. Oprah on his side, Africa will share a gold of good will from United States. Just like King Sihanouk had declared his love for the chinese to no end. Shame on Aphaiwong then and King Bhumibol now. He knew he had Khmer's root, but yet shut his mouth said nothing and allowing the PAD to do whatever they want to rape the Khmer. See Preah Vihear. Why didn't he just come and admit it? Say it! that it isn't ours. We need to stay away from it or something. Why not King? You 're deadly afraid of your MF advisors, wasn't it? you'll die with your eyes open, because you'ren't done with the business of owing Cambodia, just yet King.
Any good relation is good and also remember that the chinese may look like a lamp, but she is a tiger under a sheep's skin. She is a Communist and a real killer. You may fool yourself, but we're not.
correction:
King Bhumibol born on December 5, 1927 (1927-12-05) (age 81). He is 5 years younger than King Father Sihanouk.

a lot of people in europe and america are mixed race as well. what do ya think about that? so what! if they can speak fluent khmer and can read and write khmer, then it should be ok, i think! god made all human races differently, and it's ok to have mixed races as well. please get used to it!
didn't this guy lose the last election already? why is he become a prime minister? did he steal the election?
Khoung Abhaiwongse, a native of Battambang, Cambodia, created the Thailand's democratic party in 1940's. He was the forefather of the current PAD party in Thailand and Abhisit is elected Thai PM under this party. In essense, Khoung's Khmer spirit stirred much of the political turbulent in Thailand today!
Watchout, all top khmer leaders'wife and daughter will falling in love with this shit face..! including Prince rannaridh wife and daughter...remembered viet did to king Cheyeatha??
Everybody born to this world want to be a winner and in the case of AH Abhishit, the Thai people just sicken tired of him and handed him the role of a winner and now AH Abbishit must perform and show what he made of regardless of his educational background at Oxford or whatever!
How dare this mother fucker twisted democratic process and called himself a winner!
This mother fucker ain't a winner but a fucken looser becaues the majority of the Thai population didn't vote for him!
ABHISHIT IS ENEMY NO.1 OF CAMBODIA!
Khmer people must understand who caused the Thai occupation of 4.6 km2 near Prasat Preah Vihear, Prasat Ta Moan, Prasat Ta Krabei, etc.
