Vietnam, Cambodia cooperate in checking animals crossing border

31/12/2008
VNA (Hanoi)

VietNamNet Bridge – A memorandum of understanding on inspection of animals and poultry transported across the border was signed by the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Cambodian Ministry of Forestry and Fishery in southern An Giang Province on Dec. 29.

Under the MoU, the two sides will exchange veterinary information, build cooperation programmes in quarantine, checking the movement of animals across the border and licensing importers and exporters. The two sides will also continue the prevention and inspection of animal diseases and epidemics in the lower part of the Mekong river’s basin.

The two sides agreed to set up 10 quarantine posts at border gates and hold annual meetings to review the cooperation.

In the two countries’ border areas, Cambodians export cows to Vietnam and Vietnamese sell poultry’s eggs, water poultry and pigs to Cambodia.

KI-Media,

This response is in reference to your unhealthy predisposition to criticize and diminish the achievements of your fellow Khmers who do genuflect to the Westerners.

Seriously, I must question why you feel compelled to put a negative spin on the positive acts of those fellow Khmers who do not share your subordinate aspirations.

Mong Rithy, Kith Meng, and other Khmer business trailblazers, despite their flaws, have provided jobs for tens of thousands of our people and played essential roles in Cambodia's economic development.

We must applaud them for the contributions they make to Cambodia when they are doing the right things.

I have devoted more than two decades of my life to pursue my Ph.D. only to make a few hundred dollars a month. Yet, I am not envious of the fortunate people who make millions of dollars, live in huge villas, ride Lexus, etc.

Most Khmers aren't upset to see wealthy, successful Westerners and other foreigners, so why should we be envious of successful Khmers?

This is very destructive attitude. As Cambodia's leading scholar, I urge Khmer people not to harbor jealousy toward fellow Khmers and to provide encourage and moral support to one another so that we may prosper together as a sovereign nation, not as a slave nation of the West.

I thank you.

Correction: "who do genuflect" above should be "who do NOT genuflect"

Dear Khmer Idiot Ph.D.

Your Ph.D. is not different from Hun Sen's and Bunary's who are bragging themselves of their PhD but speak in a way of barbaric person.

I support the idea of having our capitalistic businessmen like Kith Meng or others to diversify our national economics. But I can say that your bragging PhD is idiot because you are dividing the Khmers and the Westerners.

What is your backing up and reason behind his divisive speech? If my assumption is not appropriate, I would say you are working for VN to have accomplishing strategy of dividing Khmers...

Koun Khmer
