Vietnam pushes Hun Sen to take measures to boost trade with VN to $2 bln in 2010

Cambodia, Vietnam expect 2 bln USD in trade

Phnom Penh, Dec 11 (VNA) - Vietnam and Cambodia have discussed measures to further boost their economic cooperation, with the aim of increasing two-way trade to 2 billion USD by 2010.

The discussion took place during the meetings in the Cambodian capital of Phnom Penh between the Vietnam - Laos - Cambodia Association for Economic Cooperation Development of Vietnam and the Council for the Development of Cambodia and a number of Cambodian ministries.

At the working sessions, the two sides also highlighted the importance of further accelerating economic cooperation and investment between Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia .

During its visit to Cambodia from Dec. 8-12, the delegation of the association, led by Chairman Lai Quang Thuc, former deputy minister of Planning and Investment, was received by Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen.

Cambodia is selling produce, timber and other raw products- VN then does the value added and makes the profit. Cambodia needs to develop its manufacturing sector to do their own value added for export.

PM Hun Sen there is no gain from being push to do business with the Viet...
If you going to do business there is singapore,malay,Japan,Korea,china and the EUR which is more profitable for Cambodia and it people if you are interest in spreading the wealth.

There is a geographic advantage to trade between VN Thailand, Laos, Myanmar and that is the cost of transportation is low.
