Calls for further Khmer Rouge trials

There are renewed calls in Cambodia for more former Khmer Rouge leaders to be prosecuted by the UN-backed special court, commonly known as the Khmer Rouge Tribunal.

The special court will hear its first case on the 17 February.

Five former Khmer Rouge leaders will be tried, including the second-in-charge Nuon Chea and the former head of state Khieu Samphan.

Theary Seng, head of the Centre for Social Development in Phnom Penh, who lost her parents during Khmer Rouge rule, has told Connect Asia a symbolic trial is not enough.

"To try to prosecute only five, is not enough," she said.

"I understand that hundreds, if not thousands, could potentially be prosecuted for the mass crimes which occurred in the 1970s, taking the lives of at least 2 million Cambodians, including my parents.

"So, if hundreds and thousands are not realistic, well, five is not enough either."

Write letters to our Congress to stop funding this fake KRT amy be the best way. Do you know multimillion of dollars spent for that fake KRT?
I say again I don't blame Theary Seng for trying to earn her living as well others so, but I blame our government in the US who keep giving money to them.
