Kuwait and Cambodia are sealing their ties by getting ready to conclude several agreements, including an important one dealing with irrigation.

On 13 January, a 50-person Cambodian delegation consisting of businessmen and high-ranking government officials led by Hun Sen will fly over to Kuwait.

There, Cambodian officials plan to conclude four agreements on air transport, tourism, exchange of workers and the irrigation of the Stung Sen River located in Kampong Thom province.

At the beginning of December 2008, Hor Namhong, Cambodia’s Foreign Affairs minister, visited Kuwait to sign the opening of a Cambodian diplomatic mission and to finalize several agreements.

In 2008, at the height of the food crisis, a delegation from Kuwait traveled to Cambodia to insure a supply of agricultural products and rice, in particular. Other countries, such as Senegal and Qatar, have also expressed interest in Cambodian agriculture.

hey, why not put some of cambodia's fertile farmland to use by leasing them to the oil-rich, but agricultural-starved nations from the middle east like kuwait, qatar, etc...? i think it will help cambodia in the long-run when these rich nations have interest in cambodia. some people need to think long-term benefit for cambodia, too, not just their own interest! these rich nations are not illegally invading or stealing from cambodia, they are leasing some of cambodia's rich, fertile farmland to grow agricultural produce, etc for their unfertile country; so, cambodia is blessed by that. please think about it; they are not imposing anything that cambodia did not want. they are doing it through a legal diplomatic channel anyway, so, khmer people should be educated to understand this blessing in disguise for our country, too. thank you.

maybe kuwait, qatar, etc... can help cambodia upgrade our international airports to meet international standard like extending the runways to at least 3500 meters in length since there will be long-haul flight from the middle east, etc to cambodia. by all mean, somebody has gotten to do it, can't expect our country to wait forever. if we need milk, can't wait forever for the cow to come home! in other words, please do something about it sooner than later! and, of course, the job is not for the pessimistic, the skeptics or the cynics; the job is more suited for the optimistic personality, the visionary politician and other capable people out there! but certainly not for the pessimistic ones! god bless cambodia.

There shouldn't be any debate here.

When you are poor and you need income, rent some of your assets: Land, car, house, ...., or wife. It makes no difference.
