A small number of officials and businessmen in Cambodia have been accused of taking millions of dollars from oil and mineral deals.
The Global Witness organization has revealed an elite group was probably able to siphon millions from the impoverished country's fast-growing oil and mining sectors.
Millions of dollars of Cambodian mining, oil, and gas concessions were paid in the form of up-front bonuses to the government by private companies.
Global Witness has accused Prime Minister Hun Sen of being among the group, along with military commanders, businessmen, and the chairman of the human rights commission.
Cambodia's foreign ministry has refused to make any comment on the accusations but the Cambodian Embassy in London, where Global Witness is centered, has posted comments on its website to say the accusations are part of a malicious campaign to damage Cambodia’s economic development.

i think global witness has history of trying to tarnish cambodia's image before by such baseless accusation. i ask that they deal with cambodia through a diplomatic channel and provide real, concrete evidence of their groundless, speculatative based on their implication of "risk" in order to spread rumours, especially when they compared cambodia to that of nigeria or some other very corrupted countries on the planet. that's not fair for cambodia. khmer people ask that such grave accusation be supported by real manifested evidence. otherwise, it is groundless to speculate so!

The imbecile Hun Sen operates Cambodia as if he is the boss of a mafia. The worthless crooked Cambodian politicians, especially the ones in that brothel of a party (the CPP) all care only for what can go in their wallets and sucking up to Hun Sen just to get a piece of his scraps. The corrupted military commanders are even more worthless. They parade around in their meaningless general's stars and nice little pretty uniforms all day knowing nothing about the duties and service that they are to perform. The police are just a bunch of CPP henchmen and are hopeless bunch of unintelligent thugs taking orders from Hun Sen and his spoiled family members.
