Khmer Krom food by My Linh Nakry

I have come across a website dedicated to Khmer Krom Food. My Linh Nakry, I assumed she is a fine Khmer Krom woman, is unquestionably a master cook. She has made my saliva dripping as I browsed through her endless recipes of delicious-looking Khmer Krom food. I one day wish that I could taste her food. My hat off to her!
Here are some of the saliva-dripping Khmer Krom food by Ms. My Linh Nakry:- Khmerization

Samlor Machu Chrourk Trey (Fish Sour Soup)

Samlor Machu Trey Plae Champu (sweet, sour, spicy, star fruit soup)

Samlor Tumpeang Sor Sach Kdam (white asparagus with crab meat)

Lap Khmer (Khmer Beef Salad)

Samlor Banlae Sach Ko (vegetable beef soup)

1:21 Pm, you must had a rough life. There is no need to blame your parents, because chimps do not produce intelligence offspring. I am so suprise that you know how to get on line.

May god bless you!!!

1:54pm, you are right. 1:21pm is not even a chimp, he is worth. He has a khuo kbal bong-korng (a shrimp's brain- very dumb to be exact). He is mental, totally brainwashed the CPP and Hanoi. He has no respect for a decent young lady like Linh Nakry. To look down on her is like to look down on his own mother. I feel sorry for his mother to have a son like him.

I think Khmerization just want to promote Khmer food. I visited her site and, like Khmerization, I think her recipes are wonderful.

what is the proportion of Youn vs Khmer in Khmer Krom? When Khmer Krom adopt that flag? Why it was named Cochinchin-China (not Cambodia)? Was it independent from the Khmer kings? I can't figure out.

The music is very inspired and emotional.

The first dish brings back fine memory and all the summer season in Cambodia.

9:37pm, in some provinces there are more Khmers than Vietnamese. The total Khmer Krom population is estimated to be between 8-12 million. The Vietnamese put the figure much less. The Khmer Krom flag was only adopted recently, maybe 10 years ago, by the Khmer Krom Federation headed by Thach Ngoc Thach. It is the same as the Cambodian Buddhist flag flying around the Cambodian Buddhist temples, seen during Buddhist festivals.

The area was named Cochin-China by the French when it occupied the area in the mid-1800s. The French ruled the area independent of Cambodia and Vietnam. It was named Cochin-China because the area was influenced by two cultures: the Indian and the Chinese. The word "Cochin" is a name of a city port in India colonised by the European. So the named Cochin-China was so called because the population in the area was influenced by the Indian culture (The Khmers) and the Chinese culture (The Vietnamese). The former French colonies of Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos were later named Indo-China, which means the same thing- of Indian and Chinese mixed. During the 1800s the Cambodian king still lay claim to the area. The area was ruled by Vietnam when the French occupied it in 1862 but the Khmer king still lay claims to it. King Ang Duang had asked Napoleon III of France to help take back Kampuchea Krom. Napoleon III promised to return it to Cambodia but in 1949 the French parliament voted to give Kampuchea Krom to Vietnam against the promise that Napoleon III gave to King Ang Duang.

Yes, I listened to the music, the Khmer Krom National Anthem, too. It is a great music--emotional and inspirational.

How come there are so many Khmers in Vietnam, 6:03?

Thailand is much bigger than South Vietnam, how many Khmers do you think they have out there?

It's so hard to recognize Khmer in Vietnam, because of their light skin and so vietnamized. I met one Cambodian women in Asian's shop and i could have sworn, she was vietnamese. Her clothing, her hair , her jewelries and her make up were all the same as those vietnamese's women. Not until she started talking to her kids in Khmer that I knew, she was Cambodian. In my heart i wanted so bad to correct her tongue, but i'm just thankful that even thought it was so heavy in vietnamese's accent, she was still able to speak Cambodian fluently.

In most case, anyone who have been assimilated for over 5 generations will not be able to speak their native language. Just look at the French, German, Greek,..., and Italian in the US who had been there for over 5 generations. I don't think you'll find anyone of them can speak their native language.

7:12am, yes, it is true. there are more khmers in kampuchea krom than in surin-thailand. in thailand, according to some khmer estimates, there about 5-6 million khmers. but according to UN census recently, only 2.5 million people have identified themselves as khmers. maybe they are ashamed to be khmers or maybe they are scared of thai persecutions. in surin only there are about 800,000 khmers already.

You are not being honest with your answer, 6:17. Just because one is a shame of being Khmer, it doesn't change their blood from red to green. Come on, dude, we are talking DNA, here. Thailand is much bigger than South Vietnam. How many Khmer are there in Thailand? Let's here some truth, shall we? If you are going to hide the truth in Thailand, the same thing will be done in Vietnam by the Vietnamese government, keep that in mind.

Thank you. One more question, what had happened to Khmer krom before the arrival of France?

For flag, I agree if it is a symbol of ours, otherwise use the Cambodian flag or similar so that Khmer young generations could easily recognize the lost land ad Khmer fellows.

I believe there are more than 10 millions KK in Vietnam. However, if we only count those who preferred to be KK then Viet, than I am having trouble counting more than 75,000 or so, which is why no one is paying any attention to whatever issue they may have.

7:52pm, before the arrival of France, Kampuchea Krom was forcibly annexed by Vietnam, but many Khmer Krom still identify themselves as Khmers. Khmers have been persecuted- treated like slaves and dogs. They were forced to do hard labor, like the digging of the Vinh Te Cannal in 1820. 85,000 Khmers were forced to dig Vinh Te cannal, about 65 k in length and many died of exhaustion and executions. Many Khmers must have heard about the "kompup te ong" story. The "kompup te ong" happened during the digging of Vinh Te Cannal. The Viet dug three holes in tripod, put the Khmer "slaves" in the three holes to use their head as tripod to cook tea for their master "ong". when it become hot the Khmers tried to move their heads and the Viet told them don't move "or my master's tea will be spilled" (kom reu proyatt kompup te ong).

At that time Khmer king still claim Kampuchea Krom as part of Cambodia, but was unable to take it back because Cambodia was too poor and too weak.

Didn't KR try?, but they weren't smart. All they did was killing of whomever they distrusted. They also starved their own people to death. All the rices and everything else that those people could produce with their blood and sweat went somewhere else, but in the country. Who knows where it went? and so if you try to get KK back, you need to forget about this old trick. It isn't working.

Oh well, 9:54, when you are poor and weak, you will have to live within your mean. It's really no one fault. It happened all over the world. So stop crying because you sound soooo pathetic.

Every war in the world is all about politician, have you ever thought that they some time start war to ether boost economy, or away of sending million of Cambodian out to other countries as refugees.

I do agree that war, we loose many love one but in every country it all about politician and that we can not deny. If you have other suggestion in mind, please talk and do not swear.

people that swear is the people that can not take the truth or they think they know it!!!
