cambodia do have a higher standard of dress code, etc... and this is one of them. you wouldn't walk into a wat (pagoda) in shorts or tank-top and so on, so, it is expected that people dressed appropriately when they enter the monarchy as well. it's just local custom and etiquette, that's all. please respect that! same with churches in the western society, you don't go to church in shorts or flip-flops! hello, same concept here, too! must respect that!
