A Cambodian official said that Cambodia will consider opening the entry to Preah Vihear from the Thai side only when all Thai troops are withdrawn from the areas.
The entry to Preah Vihear from the Thai side has been closed when Thai troops invaded the areas on 15th October 2008 after the temple was declared a world heritage site.
Mr. Phay Siphan (pictured), spokesman for the Council of Ministers, said that Cambodia will consider opening the gate when there is no more deployments of Thai troops in the areas. He said: "At this moment, we are insisting for the return of these areas to the pre-15th July 2008 situation. This is the point that we are demanding. And we made it clear that whenever the conflict is resolved, we will turn the areas into an international tourist zone and tha'ts when we will open the entry from the Thai side."
Mr. Phay Siphan's comments came one day after the Thai authority opened the Pha Mor I Daeng National Park, a tourist gateway to Preah Vihear temple.
There are reports that, after the Pha Mor I Daeng was opened, there were hundreds of Thai tourists queuing to see the Preah Vihear temple, but they can only watch it far away from the Thai side.
Mr. Phay Siphan said that the Thai side has not officially responded to the Cambodian demand yet.
Last week, Prime Minister declared that the Thai Minister of Defence has agreed to withdraw troops and turn the areas into a joint tourist areas. However, a Thai military official who participated in the meeting denied that Thailand agreed to withdraw troops from the Preah Vihear areas as claimed by PM Hun Sen.
A Cambodian senior military official who attended the meeting said that the issue of troops withdrawal will be discussed in subsequent bilateral meetings in later dates.

Good, that's the best decision by a Khmer authority so far. Don't open the gate until there's no Thai soldier present. If it's up to me, that gate should be completely sealed up with huge concrete retaining wall so no direct entry point could be made from the Thai side into Preah Vihear temple. Any Thai want to see Preah Vihear, would have to enter Cambodia through another check point.
It's illegal for Cambodia to control the gate to Khmer Leu's temple.
Jayo Kampuchea! Best thing I heard so far. Keep those Thais and out and if tourist want to see Preah Vihear they have to go through Cambodia that way we're making the tourist dollars and not Thai. I don't even think the gov't charge any money to see the temple. That would be another consideration to start charging people to see the temple just like Angkor Wat. All in all good news!
No need to open untill Thai Soldiers leave Cambodia Territory (espec. from Wat Preah Vihea-Keo Sekha Svarak)...untill the situation rerturn to what before 18 Aug ////
Don't be afraid of the manipulative thieved nation. Cambodia must stand firm and be smart against the enemy.
Do the CPP do it or opposition do it? I believe oppositon just know how to talk blam and don't no shit.
Opposition has no authority to do it!
It's Hun Sen's duty to do so.
I don't think the government of Cambodia should yet open up the gates to Preah Vihear. So it's a good decision to keep it closed until the Thai government can back up its troops from the area and keep in good binding words that they will not re-deploy their military. Cambodia is a sovereign nation and the Thai are simply abusing and dishonoring Cambodia's legal rights. In the international landscape, Thailand is further degrading its integrity.
Yes, keep the gate shut until those Siem invaders leave the area. Love live Khmer empire!
You piece of shit Pro CPP supporter 9:28 AM
Opposition party members are MP (Member of Parliament).
They don't hold any position in Cambodian Government. They don't have authority.
The peoples that hold position within the Cambodian government are Khmer rouge gangsters. That was installed by a communist country (Vietnam)
The CPP is a killing machine.
You are so dumb.
You never been to school, that's why.
Don't tell anyone that you are Khmer, you make Khmer peoples look bad.
11:30 AM
If CPP is a killing machine, then why do Khmer population increased so far since they took power? Stop being a dumb political tool. CPP out of their misdoing here and there got Cambodia on its feet, dummy. If it wasn't of the CPP's tactics in national reconciliation politics, you would still have KHmer Rouge gorillas in the jungles robbing villagers at the outskirt of villages and towns.
Sam Rainsy is a critic and that's fine but you make him look like a god that he is not. Ask yourself what has this guy done literally in rebuilding Cambodia's infrastructure and economy? How many schools, wells, roads, Wats, bridges, etc... has Sam Rainsy built in Cambodia? The last time I checked it is zero and that last time is a few seconds ago.
Yes, Cambodia must be firm. Don't open the Preah Vihear gate until Thai troops are withdrawn. If need be, Cambodia should build a concrete permanently like 7:29am suggested. Any tourists, Thai or other foreigners, must enter the temple through Cambodia. If we open the Thai side, Thailand will be the one benefiting the most from the tourist dollars.
All Cambodian people including government officials and leaders please don't forget the history of siam envasion in to Cambodia in the past.
2:30pm, I agree with you about CPP is not a killing machine. However, CPP is not all rights about the management of this nation. The two main roles are the government execute the laws, while the opposition is the critic. That is the rule of thumb and simple as that.
Hun Sen is the primier whose role is to build the nation. You got to scratch your head more often and ask yourself where Hun Sen got the money to build schools, roads, hospital ... etc. (I am sure you can do it as it is elementary numeracy). Of course it is his duty to do so.
While Sam Rainsy who is the opposition leader, whose role is to criticise whatever he thinks the government is derailed from the road.
Hun Sen is entitled to be criticised by people as the matter of individual argument. Plus, he is also to be cheered by what people might think that it is the right thing of this nation. Why don't you be happy to see all Khmer celebrating together.
Happy to see Cambodian leaders took this tough stance. may be it's just talk, but later, when the Thai bribed them, the gate will be opened, despite the border issues have not been resolved yet.
To CPP supporter 2:30 PM
When Khmer population increase since they took power, it doesn't mean that the CPP is not a killing machine.
What kind of logic are you trying to get at?
You are still dumb.
The CPP leaders and members are killing innocent men, women and children in Cambodia.
Do you agree?
Tell me if I'm wrong.
The CPP are the Khmer Rouge.
The peoples that responsible for killing almost two million innocent Khmer people.
Don't try to distinguish yourself Khmer Rouge commanders from Khmer Rouge gorillas.
It doesn't work.
My eyes always focus on a target, whether the target is stationary or moving.
And you guys try to put all the blames on Pol Pot.
You guys use to kills innocent Khmer peoples and you guys still kills innocent Khmer peoples.
If you guys likes killing peoples, we have enemies that occupied and kill three of our soldiers inside of our border in our land.
I know you guys have rules, you guys only kills innocent Khmer peoples.
You guys don't likes to kill enemy soldiers with M16 in their hands.
You are so dumb.
CPP supporter (maybe you) said Hun Sen is Tevada from heaven.
This statement is so dumb.
You think that Butcher of Cambodia (Hun Sen) did a very good job in rebuilding Cambodia's infrastructure and economy?
Anyone else other than a Butcher of Cambodia (Hun Sen) can rebuilding Cambodia's infrastructure and economy without assassinate and murder innocent men, women and children in Cambodia.
Don't you agree?
I needs your comment.
You are so dumb.
You are being dumb again.
In what part of my comment said that I make Sam Rainsy look like a god?
This is what I said.
"Opposition party members are MP (Member of Parliament)."
"They don't hold any position in Cambodian Government. They don't have authority."
If you are smart enough you don't need to check what Sam Ransy had build.
You sounded like you are smart.
You could have fool KI reader.
You are so dumb.
Do you think Hun Sen can make money come out of his ass so he can build schools, wells, roads, wats, bridges, etc...?
Hun Sen got the money from international donors (United States, Japan, Australia, United Kingdom, France, Germany etc...
During Economic Forum in Phnom Penh, Hun Sen attack the hands that feeds him.
Khmer translation would be "Alligator (Hun Sen) bites owner (international donors) that keeps him alive".
You CPP supporter make it sound like Hun Sen use his own money that he rob from the poor the Cambodian peoples by burn their house down, build fence and put the land for sale.
Your leader make money all almost every transaction in Cambodia.
CPP supporter, you are so dumb.
Dear Khmer brothers and sisters.
This problem has also been being spoken by some bad Thai people.Anyone who can understand Thai please go to www.manager.co.th to give them some comments. We hurt when Siames look down on us.
Mr. Phay Siphan, if you don't know any thing about our border with Yuon and Thai, you just shut up, don't speak any more word, because every thing you said are all wrong. I know why you said good thing about CPP, because you scare a hell out of them.
Khmer is USA
