Reahu.net owner claims his website ordered blocked in Cambodia

They've done it

Written by Reahu.net

Dear Fans and Supporters,

The Cambodian government had issue a note of blockage to many internet providers in Cambodia to block this website from the local people. If this kind of basic freedom is deny God knows what will happen next. Anyway, there are approximately 6 ISPs in Cambodia, some had taken the privilege to block the site from Cambodia, but others did not due to the lack of technological know how or it's too costly.

There are ways around this if you are accessing this site from Cambodia. Do not use Internet Explorer, instead use Mozilla Fire Fox. Meanwhile, I'm trying to get my hosting provider to change the IP address. Or any of you know another way, so that we can provide our Khmer people equal access.

May Buddha bless those in charge of the country so they can see that the glass isn't always half empty.
-------
KI-Media note: The Cambodia Daily reported that So Khun, the minister of Post and Telecommunications, confirmed that he did send the letter to Internet Servcice Providers (ISPs) to block the "reahu.net" website after he received the complaing from Ing Kantha Phavy, the minister of Women's Affairs. However, attempts to reach Ms. Ing Kantha Phavy went unanswered.

What we must do is wage the battles for peace and freedom with the same... dedication with which we wage the battles in war... The only answer to a strategy of victory for the Communist world is a strategy of victory for the free world. Let the victory we seek... be the victory of freedom over tyranny, of plenty over hunger, of health over disease in the country call Cambodia. Mi Ing Kanthaphavy threats of Communisim and less of the promise of FREEDOM in Cambodia.
Mi Ing Kanthaphavy is stupid by an act of the people will...

Hey there,

Just wondering, when did KI start to condone pornographic art depicting naked Khmer ladies on the internet as freedom? Surely, the guy at reahu is using the image and the way of Apsara through pornographic painting in order to sell his "work", and the government of Hun Sen is working to block this site from corrupting the minds of Khmer kids who are in Cambodia, and we all condemns them for doing this? Geez, i just can't believe how some people are so politically blind to condemn everything coming out of the CPP.

I totally support this action by the government, and I condemn reahu for this shameful action. I also condemn KI for abetting this criminal activity by publicizing ways to go around the attempt by the government to block this pornographic site from entering Cambodia. Surely, KI works to restore democracy in Cambodia, and also to preserve the decency of its people by condemning this website, and I hope that they will cease abetting reahu's attempt to reach its wide base of readers here at KI.

Penh Panha.

It is a positive step by Government to block such a website from poison young's mind.

Blocking a website doest mean no freedom. Do the right thing, dawg!

2:34PM: I m totally agree with you. Ah kkhmer overseas pleu can not see that local cambodian here are very uneducated and that kind of paints can harm the brain here because of lower education and thinking mind than those living in the US or Europe.
There is enough crime stories and incests case and prostitution and amorality (just see the Police Blotter section of Phnom Penh Post) and we don't need other kind of mind pollution.
What is good for westerners may not fit for asians mind living in Asia (different from those asian living in western world), this is the clash of civilisation and traditinism since millenaries, so...

Freedom means no blocking or censorship of the website. It's a typical Hanoi PhD concept that blocking a website does not mean no freedom.

If a website was blocked by an international consensus, e.g. a pedophile website, that would be fine. Controversial websites and criminal websites should be treated differently.

What about the senior CPP members' well-known engagement in extra-marital affairs and under-aged sex? It is not only poisoning the young minds but also creating all kinds of social consequences. And, where do the clever dudes with PhD from Hanoi stand on this issue? Go with the flow, of course!

Controversy usually generates debates and discussions, which are good for a healthy mind. Psychos and dictators don't want debates or discussions. They just want the rest of us to believe in their crafty ideas or lies.

I request Reahu to draw the pussy of Ing Kathaphavy.
It is sth art. Not a phorn.
Let reahu do it.
Apply the laws to curb rape and other sex violences.

4:25pm, can you provide some evidences, proof about underaged sex by anybody in Cambodia?
Would really appreciated it. But if it is just to make noise on the web? Talk the talk bro.

And I agree that blocking a webside wont lose any freedom. Even in the US, there is no such thing as total freedom.
May I define press freedom for you?
Do some research.

Thank you to all administrator for protecting Khmer people from Ah Pimp-Oversea.

Mr. Reahu,

There is something that we have to learn and adjust to especially in Cambodia. For all of us here oversea we see your pictures as an art but in Cambodia your talent yet appreciated because of our culture and tradition. In a sense you may want to consider of this appeal and be very sensitive to those at home also. Let Cambodia goes slowly in it course. She is still in fragile and tries to recover from the killing field.

This is one of the many reasons why people keep on voting for the Admirable PM Hun Sen. That is he protect Khmer's value from Ah Pimp Potato diggers from oversea.

Communist never changes. If there is no open market and society to the world, people might have lived under a regime that is no different from Pol Pot.

Ah Yuons always behind and tell them what to do.

That’s why we call Suppression System. Poor Cambodians.

I think Reahu should calm. It is enough bickering and publicity for Reahu. I think I have enough. I live in America and I can share some of us seeing Reahu images as arts; I, too, see Reahu image as arts and for freedom of expression. But I retracted my support because your arts using controversial Khmer icons; in some ways it is glamorized and in some ways it is insulting to both the KR figure and the Apsara. I think it is best that Reahu leaves these two symbol alone.

Pornography is in the eye of the beholder. This is fine art and is not pornographic by the common definition simply because some paintings depict a bare breasted Aspera dancer which is historically accurate. It's actually just depicting what's on the walls of numerous historical cites in Cambodia. This is an embarrassing move by a few and only casts a shadow of narrow-mindedness on the Kingdom.

Reahu drawing was inaccurate depiction of Apsara. The rest of you who thing that Apsara are naked better pick up book or needs to look at the calving in Angkor Wat again. Reahu Drawing was good but out of proportion in some way in depicting Khmer icon.
