The French hated Khmers for resisting their autority, and they said "When it comes to obedience, the Vietnamese are good housekeepers and hardworking people. They accepted the Roman alphabets. We'll teach those barbarian Khmers a lesson, we'll employ the Vietnamese to surrogate administrators for us in Cambodia and Laos."
The seeds for Vietnamese domination of the region three countries Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia were planted by the French themselves at first not by the Vietnamese.
While French trusted the Vietnamese Phan Bội Châu went to Japan in 1905and to Thailand in 1908 to settle a base of resistance to oust French from Indochina. He was considered as Ho Chi Minh's spiritual father for his struggle.

Talking about UN, I am sick in the stomach. Some members of the US're so corrupted. They're paid by Youn Communist to give a false information that Vietnamese troops left Cambodia, which in fact the Viet Com. troops were still inside Cambodia, just changed new clothes.
Before you trust the UN too much then search for who created the UN in the first place. It was created by the US and it is still pretty much influenced by the US. Now the US foreign policy in South East Asia is to defeat China in term of economic power, the US needs allies like Vietnam to do a dirty work knowing that Vietnam is the enemy of China and Vietnam wants to keep French Indochina for herself.
Vietnam aggressively lobbying not only the Capitol Hill, she goes further to Indina, a future economics superpower in term of economic power like China he rneighboring country.
India has to be carefull with Vietnam for blackmail French and Cambodia. Being friend with Vietnam is only disaster, because any nation will be wickedly deceived by the Vietnamese.
Why Inda has to be careful with Vietnam, because Hindu of India great civilization is also here in Cambodia. Will India allow the light skin Vietnamese to destr0y their Hindu great Temples built by their foreFathers who conquered and ruled over the Khmer Empire?
Think about it. We have to think about ourselves before asking others for a help.
