Translated from Khmer by Chao Sok
Hanoi is the absolute master of the Tuol Krasaing (Hun Sen’s residence) regime and the CPP in Phnom Penh … we all know about this fact, but because of the benefits provided to them by Hanoi, Cambodian politicians seem to dismiss that they are in fact easily trapped by Hanoi. Hanoi’s swallowing of Cambodia is moving forward as planned by Ho Chi Minh. On the outside, as a façade, Hanoi turns Cambodia’s political situation into one in which Cambodians are perceived as cutting throat of their own people, whereas, in reality, million of illegal Vietnamese immigrants live happily in Cambodia under the protection of Vietnamese associations and the CPP administration.
Hanoi turns the Cambodian society into a “cicada” society in which the CPP boasts happiness and joy, however, on the other hand, a majority of Cambodians are kept in dire poverty and hunger … so that Cambodian people would not have the time to think about their own destiny. Each day that goes by, poor Cambodian people can only think about their stomach only and nothing else. A large number of Cambodian intellectuals have been discarded to the side. Violent acts are fomented anew by the new Cambodian elitist class. The land theft in Dey Krahorm shows that the Phnom Penh regime has no qualm in perpetrating any type of misdeeds. In fact, they are merely “butterflies that forgot they were once worms,” their real birth origin. This type of butterflies thinks that they will “last forever” under Hanoi’s jaw… They think that they can fly forever, and they ignore that, at one point soon in the future, they will have to face a major storm.
