Some families who were evicted from the Dey Krohorm slum have accepted the compensation package offered by 7NG even though most of them are not happy with the offer.

Mr. Chan Saveth, representative from the Dey Krohorm neighbourhood, said that some families have agreed to accept the offer because they have been traumatised by the forced evictions that have been carried on 24th January. They have accepted the ultimatum given by 7NG because they are afraid that they will not get anything and that they do not foresee any solution better than this offer.

Mr. Chan Saveth said that 7NG gave an ultimatum to the evicted families until 31st January to accept their offer or they will receive nothing. He said that all who accepted the offer were forced to do so by the company.

Mr. Chan Saveth said: “The company has given an ultimatum to the 85 families recognised by the company to accept the offer. If they don’t accept the compensation offered by the company after the ultimatum, all their claims will be invalid and the company will not make any other compensation offers. Because the company has strongly threatened them, they have to accept the offer under duress and some people who went to get their houses offered by the company have to pay bribes before they (company’s representatives) will give them the house.”

Mr. Chan Saveth said that there are about 50 more families who did not accept the compensation offered by the company as they have requested to be paid $20,000 in cash offered by the company before the evictions.

Mr. Chhim Savuth, an official from the Cambodian Centre for Human Rights, said that, most of the evicted families complained that most of the houses offered by the company are uninhabitable.

He said: “The houses offered by 7NG at Borey Santepheap II, according to the complaints from the families, are substandard buildings. Some houses have leaks from the ceilings when it rains and most houses have no sewage system or other systems at all. For the houses to be habitable, the occupants have to pay at least between $2,000-$3,000 more out of their pockets to repair the houses.”

On 24th January, 7NG has carried out the forced evictions and demolitions of many houses from Dey Krohorm slum, among them, the evictions and the demolitions of the houses belonging to some of Cambodian comedians, including Grandpa Songsiss, Grandma Oeun and Mr. Songset.

In the evictions, 20 of the evicted people, including one pregnant lady, were injured.

Wow, the housing in the picture looks great, much better than Long Beach government's housing. I hope they can keep it that way.

Oh! really. Yeah!!!! much better than Long Beach. But I suggest you, 8:55 PM, to contribute them some furniture like sofa, flat screen TV, garage,...and Air-con to keep them cold for season.
If you can contribute some of this little small stuff; I think it would greater than Long Beach.
Long Beach is like a slum in heaven, unlike the houses in the picture seem to be a slum in hellven.

According to International Court of justice, Cambodia has been a signatory of that court since 2002. Therefore, all criminals who have committed human crimes can be refered to that court in Hargue for justice. 7NG has committed a biggest crime by robbing people lands and has used mop and police forces to destroy people properties and people livehood in Dey Krahoam. I think we should make this complain to this court to be heard. We need action while all negociations by both parties are on the way. This course of action is to make sure that 7NG is waking up and be prepared to pay all damages made by their blind eyes. Areak Prey

Correction;
It is not International Court of Justice, but it is International criminal Court.
Both of them are International Courts but are serving different purposes. Please check with Google for the court website. The victims can find a lawyer to lodge their complain on their behalf to the court. It needs affidavits from victims. I live in overseas so I cannot help. Areak Prey

The house looks nice, but the occupants have to pay extra $2000-$3000 for repairs before they can live in. Ceilings are leaking and no toilet, no sewage systems, this no different to Dey Kraham. And the house is worth about $3000-$4000 each. So these people have been robbed badly by 7NG.

That is bullshit, it doesn't cost no 3,000 or 4,000 to repair a minor defect. Everything is under guaranteed, they just have to work it out with the builder.

Anonymous said...

Agreed! no builder on this planet will give their new proudly built houses with a leaky roof to anyone. This will ruin their future reputation. However, it is up to the owner to report all defects to the builder so that they can take care of the problem.

The NGO allegations is retarded. Don't listen to them. They are really part of Ah traitor Scam Rainxy who objective is to gain votes from the next election by making people suffer and the country looks bad.

No surprise, stepping on Khmer's back to get ahead has been Ah Scam Rainxy trademark since day1.

Yes in the West, every newly-built house is guaranteed, but in Cambodia under Hun Sen, due to corruption, dodgy builders can get away with everything. If 7NG can get away with the inhuman evictions of Dey Krahaom, it can get away with everything. No toilet, no other systems...and the houses look unfinished and not clean up yet.

Bullshit, PM Hun Sen is very picky when it come quality work. Nobody take him for any ride.

And what do you mean, no toilet? Do you ever listen to shit out of your mouth?

take this offers, phnom penh is growing and soon, too, your home here will appreciate. just be patient as real estate appreciate do take times. the way i see it, the city of phnom penh will keep growing and growing as nothing is expected to stay the same. even swamp land will appreciate in value in the long-run. being patient is the key to reap this benefit. phnom penh was considered a small "provincial city", so, that will change sooner than later. even city like sihanoukville, battambang, siem reap, and so on will appreciate in land and real estate value in the near future. that's how many people got rich so quick now in cambodia, land and real estate! to see this, just look back 5 or 10 years ago, who would've image real estate in phnom penh was so lucrative? the truth is, it still is and keeps on going up and up! even kep city is a hot spot right now! god bless cambodia.

That's right, PP does have any other choice but continued growth for the next 75-100 years or so. There will be plenty of profit for everyone. Forget the Get-Rich-Quick Scheme.
