At the Funcinpec party headquarters, Keo Puth Rasmey and Chhim Seak Leng, presidents of the two royalist parties, signed an agreement to select as their common candidate, one of the most favored men from either party, for the upcoming 2009 election.
The agreement, concluded on 02 February, aimed at reinforcing the cooperation between the two parties which were weakened since the last July 2008 election. The May 2009 election will vote in members for the new municipal, provincial, city and districts councilors. The election is part of the decentralization policy which was adopted recently.
During a press conference held for this occasion, in a common declaration, the two secretary-generals stressed the importance of their union. According to the latter, if they were divided during the upcoming election, Funcinpec could only expect to obtain 3 seats at the provincial level, and 35 seats at the district level. United, they hope to obtain 13 provincial seats and about 100 district level seats.
Nhiek Bun Chhay, Funcinpec secretary-general, declared: “During the last general election, we were divided and we only obtained two seats each, whereas we could have expected to win at least 17 seats.”
You Hockry, the NRP secretary-general, said: “If this works out well, we will think about continuing this cooperation. It must not be short lived, for the future credibility of our two parties’ sake.”

How foolish these politicians are!
They need not to unite or divide since all of them are Sihanoukommunist stooges. Sihanouk was in Hun Sen pocket since 2004 and no more FUNK party.
Please plant bannana or Dam Chek, or Dek Cham! You foolish will lose more or get 0 seat at the next election, because of your stupidity

strategically, all of us here may wonder why F'pec receiving only two seats can still stay in the gov.t and with other several posts for their ministers?
simple answer: Hun sen still see f'pec useful in cambodia's politics. more or less the royal figures are still in the mind of almost-dying people. Good news is those royal sold themself too cheap in the past and those royalties are no better than "cheaters" in people's eyes.
F'pec however is still useful b/c this party can stir the decision of voters, some voters who jump from one party to others. And this party strategically is useful as a boat for other party members that need to have access to jump and join with cpp for posts&money. that's the bottom line.
Any mass defection from f'pec to cpp provoke very little surprise now. however, mass defection from opposition party will cause shock and confusion amony ordinary people. In preventive method, opposition party must train its core members, provide leadership training to more and more popular, important figures, empower its core members, yet without acknowledging that emotional, technical and financial support is very essential.
All these fools are nothing but a corrupt officials; prey on the poor and donated monies from the international community.
