On Tuesday 10 March, the permanent committee of the National Assembly (NatAss) has decided to hold an extraordinary (plenary) session in the afternoon of Thursday 12 March.

Cheam Yeap, a CPP member of the permanent committee, indicated that two issues are on the meeting agenda: “providing confidence vote for 10 new members of the government ranking from secretary of state to vice-PM” and “Sam Rainsy’s parliamentary immunity.

The shuffling of minister positions should allow Ke Kim Yan, the former army chief of staff, to become a vice-prime minister, following his sacking on 22 January and the opening of an investigation in his involvement in illegal land dealings.

Sam Rainsy lost his parliamentary immunity on 26 February when he refused to pay a 10 million riels fine ($2,500) imposed on him by the National Election Committee (NEC) for disparaging CPP leaders during the 2008 general election campaign. On that same day, Sam Rainsy announced his decision to pay the fine the NEC, thus putting an end to this affair.

Dear KI,

I noticed that none article in KI forum so far talks about Khmer's sovereignty. I would very appreciate for any update on the matter.

My concern is that the longer it is prolonged then the worst will all country's resources be devastated and end of the day loosing to those illegal encroachers.
