Kasit's insult on Hun Sen "has a positive meaning": Thai FM spokesman

Cambodia's PM Hun Sen may misunderstand Thai FM

Thai Foreign Ministry on Tuesday denied that Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya did not insult Cambodia's

Foreign Ministry's spokesman Tharit Charungvat said Hun Sen may misinterpret and misunderstand.

The spokesman was referring to an AFP report from Phnom Penh which quoted Hun Sen as blasting at Kasit for allegedly insulting him by calling him a gangster.

"He insults me -- he has called me a gangster," Hun Sen said of the foreign minister.

"What if I insult your king? What would you say if I insulted your prime minister and your ancestors? I'm not angry with you, but please use dignified words," Hun Sen was quoted as saying in AFP.

Tharit said Hun Sen might misinterpret Thai dialect of which Kasit called him "Nak Leng" (tough man).

The word has a positive meaning, rather than defamation, Tharit said noting that the ministry would clarify to Hun Sen through diplomatic channel later.

Prime Minister Hun Sen made such statement in the context of borer conflict as he warned Thai troop not to invade Cambodia's territory any more.

Cambodian officials said last week some 100 Thai troops briefly entered the areas adjacent to the Hindu temple of Preah Vihear where border skirmish erupted in October last year.

"I tell you first, if you enter (Cambodian territory) again, we will fight.

The troops at the border have already received the order," Hun Sen said at a Ceremony to open a road named after him in the seaside resort of Sihanoukville.

"I am the leader of Cambodia who was elected by the will of the people, not by robbing power," he added, in an apparent reference to Thailand's current political instability, according to AFP.

Spokesman Tharit said Thailand believed that peaceful means and negotiations would resolve border dispute.

Thai-Cambodia Joint Commission on Demarcation for Land Boundary would meet April 6-7 to continue discussion on boundary settlement. Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva would visit Cambodia April 18.

Siam minn jo:rl putt,as always.

Pouj aa kaun somlab euv yoak reaj sombatt...Rama I alias Thing Duong, a Sino Teocheow, did that to his father in law to appoint himself a pure blue blood Siam and King.

I wished Hun Sen was more rational with his nation and poor people as much as he had with his foreign attackers.

Nak Leng ,in Siam, is not that complicate since it is originated from Khmer.

In Khmer nak leng or aa pial is a thug.

Do you think we will keep your name for the road after you hit by lightning?

To KASIT a Siam:
It is an insult to Cambodian PM regardless using the words:
Nak Leng, Nak Klaig, Nak Dai Dol, Nak Pav and whatever.

To Hun Sen;
It is one of several weak soft spots is he can't take an insult word. Nobody in cambodia dares to do this to him.
But he himself used to say countless undignified and rough words toward others Cambodians.
It is the circle of his own KARMA for others to say to him.

From my point of view the way Hun Sen and his government (CPP) ruled Cambodia
It just like the gangster. turned Cambodia to the lawless country, lands grabbing from
poor people, gambling, drugs, prostitution and corruptions.

Nak Leng in Thai is the same as Neak Leng in Khmer which means a "gangster". So, there is no misinterpretation here.

12:47AM! good jobs for whip his ass, you're right about this guy, he's tough with his own kind of people only! Thai continue encroachment, and he's still playing soft with them? people can't even plow their lands right now at the border! i wish he acts instead of talking tough words...

Dear Thai FM,
What is the misinterpretation of "Nak Leng"? Why didn't you understand the meaning of originated Khmer word that you had sloten from Khmer. I am speaking, writing Thai very well. It is the "The Gangster" you insulted (Dou Thook) our Khmer Prime Minister, Hun Sen. I did not want to translate this word to our PM who can easily understand it as it is the Khmer words. Thanks to Samdach Hun Sen to blast out this stupid Thai FM.

If Nak Leng has a positive meaning as he said let call Thai King, Thai PM, FM Nak Leng as well?
Nak Leng Phumibol?

I agree with 9:34am, yes, ask KaSHIT if we can call his king "Nak Leng" too. Why not, since it's the positive words. Neak Leng Adulyadej, Bastard Adulyadej, Robber Adulyadej, Robber AbhiSHIT, Mother-fucker KaSHIT, Neak Leng KaSHIT.

Thanks everyone for having a common sentiment, regardless of whether you dislike Hun Sen. He was right to indirectly refer to the AbhiSHIT's administration as the robber.

But I really wish that Hun Sen will transform his word of warning into action, so that the Thai no longer looks down on us. Can you, Mr. PM? Otherwise, you'll continue to be blamed for only strong and tough with your own people. Can you negativate the phrase "strong man in a weak nation"?

I speak both Khmer and Thai. Neak Leng or Nak Leng are the same for Khmer Thai and is a bad word for anybody. I am glad Hun Sen speaks out against any further Thai agression. Kasit Phiroum is a Nak Leng and a bastard himself not deserved to be a FM.

Finally, we Khmer wake up. As Frederick Douglas said "If there's no struggle, there's no progress."

History tends to repeat itself. Take the Roman Empire, The Mongols, and the Turks; They were once a powerful Empire. Now they are merely events in human history.

Khmer Empire will once again flourish for us all to see. It's not a matter of if but when. Peace.

Ah...you guy should understand why Kashit said so to PM as Nak Leng...becoz Kashit himself is a Thai Rak Thai Party's Traitor. He betrayed his boss Thaksin and kiss Abhishit's ass and leak his toe or dick to get the FM job. So...no doubt for the traitor to speak the word. But the traitor forget to look back to himself and his PM and his administration, who all are country's top robber team including the killer King A phoumibollllll who killed his own brother and relative and robbed cambodian land to become ashole king.....Thai King is the ring leader of bandits or robber whatever name is all fit......

Thai has borrowed many Khmer words and still practice in palace and government until today. Nothing originally created by the Thai. They were/are all borrow from the Khmer.

Instead of admire and showing gratitude to the Khmer, Thai say nothing at all. What a shame?

Look at Australia, they apologized to the ethnic (native) people. And so did the USA, Bill Clinton also said sorry to native Hawaii too.

When will the Thai showing Thanks to Khmer???

Khmer Border,

Hun Sen must be firmed and stand on his statement, otherwise; he is a coward...like a barking dog has never bite.

I hope He won't lick his spit..and Thai will look down Khmer people.

Yes, otherwise Thai will say, hey Hun Sen is nothing. Hun Sen only barks but no action.

Don't want to be a flip-flopper.
