A Tale of "A Strongman in a Weak State"
Cambodia has been worldwide recognized as a country led by a "strongman". This word tells us many things about the ongoing political issues in Cambodia.
To be fair in judgment, strongman is good for any state when the strongman fully implements his task through legal system, the rule of law, and democratic principles. Strongman can enable state not being chaotic or anarchic. Peace and stability with sound public goods and legal justice are in need for Cambodians.
But how strongman could be categorized in Cambodia? It is hard to define this term of strongman in Cambodia as many poor and the weak have been frequently inhumanized and violated by the governed. For instance, the destitute families living in Dey Krohorm, recently have been abused by the elites. The weak farmers whose lands were grabbed by authority were arrested to put in jail or shot to death in few of them. There are many judicial cases of Cambodian poor people whose cases brought to court, and court settled the cases down by arresting the them to imprison.
How strongman could be when the minor group, the weak or the less fortunate citizens cannot be cared and protected. This case happen only in a "weak state". Cambodia currently is in this case.
Not mentioning the international arena, Cambodia's internal political administration is still very weak. The structure of the government is comparing like a man with "a giant head, but have small legs and small body". How can they stabilize themselves to walk properly?
There are several unusable positions for their patrons in the government to interact with their clients (people) without having proper duties and tasks to carry out. Those officials are just the patron who are supporting their leader, particularly are supporting Hun Sen in order to weaken Hun Sen's rivals in the same party. Not only CPP's members, many opposition's members have been lured to fulfill those positions that can bring leverage for Hun Sen to confront with his internal competitors.
The effectiveness of the government task is so slack and weak. Recently, the implementation of legality to tackle with gambling cannot be dealt through their bureaucrats; that why Hun Sen has to come out and quickly ranted to shut all those gambling parlors without having proper policy designing.
This is just the evidence of a country with its "weak state of a strongman".
There will be more narrative on this issue to deal with complex, disadvantageous political practice in Cambodia.

The Problems in Cambodia linked to only Vietnamese involvement no on elese but the Vietnamese.
The Vietnamese created Khmer Rouge in 1930's, and King Sihanouk sought China & De Gaule for advices how to defend Cambodia from the aggressive Communist Vietnam. The new group of Khmer Rouge like Hou Yun, Hou Nim, Kheiv Sasmphan then infiltrated in Viet-Khmer Rouge. The Vietnamese KNEW everything because they have too many well trained spies from Vietnam just they have too many spies today.
The Vietnamese were able to make Khmers kill each other and lured Pol Pot to enter Vietnam with his smal campaign, and there the Vietnamese did use it to invade Cambodia.
The Vietnamese can make one of their spies look just like one of you and spoke via radio just like one of you.
I am telling you because I see you Cambodians are still suffering and cannot stop killing each others.
If you kill Hun Sen the Vietnamese will produce many more Hun Sen.

You Cambodians believe me or not I don't care but I knew through a friend whose brother in law is a spie from Vietnam who married to his sister, a rich family in Cambodia. I also knew that one of the Vietnamese spy is working with Global Witness.
For every few Khmers there are at least one or few Vietnamese spies.
Dear All, I have been away for a few days for a most prestigious university of the world which was built in 1869 to see my youngest daughter doing her Doctorate of medical degree there. During I was there, I found the news of Hun Sen cracking down the few gambling places in Phnom Penh directly from him. I agreed with Dr Lao Mong Hay that, this cracking down was not done correctly to the principle of democracy system while the ideas of that crack down was right. If CPP or Hun Sen was willing to crack down on gambling, he should introduce a bill or a legislation to the parliament for an emergency meeting to approve his legislation on gambling. Upon approval of that legislation, the police can then implement the law accordingly. In democracy system, the Prime Minister has no mandate to directly order the police at all. It is undemocratic and illegal. If he can order such a thing, he would order the police to arrest everyone he like already. The Police shouldn't work as a shoe mate of the Prime Minister at all. They should implemement the law which allow them their mandate to act to protect the law and the citizen. AReak Prey

When you know that is the work of Vietnamese and their spies in Cambodia, what is your measure to deal with them. Or we just accuse, blame or insult without laying any solution?
Vietnamese is foreigner and any foreigner stands on their side to exploit us, but when we are weak they will exploit us continuously. So what is our measure to obstacle them?

medicine in your country, nz, is not easy like in cambodia to get into. you need 100% in all subjects in year 12. in cambodia, you only need to bribe the head of faculty of medicine, and you are in.
