Khmer border police reported that Thailand had moved border markers deep inside Khmer territories at Phnom Preuk (Morning Mountain) in Battambang opposite Klong Hat district of Thailand.
Khmer border forces said that Thai soldiers had moved border markers at Phnom Ta Luos and Phnom Boek Tball at Phnom Preuk village in Battambang province opposite Klong Hat district in Thailand's Sakeo province.
Commander of battalion 817, Mr. Srey Sokhon, said that the encroachments were found out when he compared Cambodian map to the Thai map.
He said that Cambodia uses the 1961 map and found that Thailand had moved border markers inside Khmer terriotries at various points. He said that some points they had moved in 40 metres, 70 metres and 150 metres deep inside Khmer territories.
Mr. Sieng Southorng, governor of Battambang province, said that this problem occurred since 1996 during the re-integration of Khmer Rouge forces, but said that the government did not compare the maps because it is the job of the Military Region Five.
He said, according to the Military Region Five, Thailand had indeed moved the markers deep inside Khmer terriotries.
Mr. Sieng Bouthorng said that provincial authority cannot resolve this issue with Thailand, only the Cambodian Border Committee can.
Mr. Var Kim Hong (pictured), chairman of Cambodian Border Committee, said that he had not received the information yet. He said that the Military Region Five and the provincial authority should report to his committee and Interior Ministry about the encroachments. He said:"Please report to us, so we can help."

this is one reason why it is important to keep khmer maps and old maps to make sure the thieves neighbors don't steal from cambodia. the khmer maps are proofs.
6:19am, you cannot blame Khmers in general. Most of us, you included, want to protect our lands at all cost. The blame here should be directed squarely at Hun Sen and his government. Hun Sen is so busy eliminating his rivals and cares so much about his power and money that he never care about our borders. Thailand and Vietnam encroached o our lands on constant basis, but we never heard any words of protest form Hun Sen.
The first thing I would see myself do is curse the Thai and place blame on them. However, this shouldn't be the case. If Hun Sen and his government weren't so busy land-grabbing, logging illegally, siphoning international aid money, eliminating political and social rivals, they would actually give a damn about Cambodian sovereignty and territorial integrity and not let Thailand nor Vietnam stomp on our dignity. This is what happens when you have spineless and uneducated thieves and hooligans in the government...your country either ends up being stolen or sold for profits. We can always blame and curse Thailand and Vietnam but who allows them to do this and get away so easily? Hun Sen and his cronies in the government!
The problem is, a good portion of Cambodians nowadays don't give a shit about the territorial integrity of their country nor do they care if Cambodia's sovereignty is being taken advantage of. I'm not saying all Cambodians are this way, but a lot are going that direction. Most are too preoccupied with mistrust, greed and jealousy with one another. Frankly, this has been the Cambodian way for centuries. A lot of our attitudes and irresponsibility have lead to the lost of our lands, the near-destruction of our culture and the absence of national confidence. It's always been the case throughout Cambodia's history. It occurs at all levels of government, businesses and even everyday local citizens. And then it's up to the few of us Cambodians who without any question, love our country so much, to clean up after our Khmer brothers' and sisters' mess, loss, and problems. And even in our attempt to make our country better, there are those that try to eliminate us and silence us.
Oh, OOOO...Hun Sen is in Trouble now.
Hun Sen is scared to uses the old map for it will affects the border with vietnam. For vietnam have also cross into khmer territories also.
Hopefully, this whole thing will blown out of perpostion that the old man will come into surface to put pressure on vietnam also, and not just thailand crossing over khmer territories.
