U.N. agency growth forecasts for Asian economies

GENEVA, March 26 (Reuters) - The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) issued the following economic growth forecasts for countries on Thursday in its annual survey of the region.

Real growth in gross domestic product (percentage change from previous year)

(2009 forecast as of Feb. 27, 2009)

NOTE - The survey does not include a table of exact forecasts for Southeast Asian countries, just a graph that shows Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines and Vietnam continuing to grow, while Singapore and Thailand contract.

UNESCAP is not credible agency when it comes to economic growth projections.

In Cambodia, for instance, UNESCAP which is a regional body to facilitate all UN agencies in Asia and the Pacific solely relies on UNDP Cambodia office. And UNDP Cambodia office has no capacity to do forecasting.
