Cambodia's ruling party concludes 34th plenum

PHNOM PENH, April 26 (Xinhua) -- The major ruling Cambodian People's Party (CPP) here on Sunday concluded its 34th plenum with resolutions on a variety of topics right ahead of the upcoming local election on May 17.

During the plenum, CPP decided to add Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance and Economy Keat Chhon, Deputy Prime Minister Yim Chhay Ly, Vice President of Senate Tep Ngorn, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) Kun Kim, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of RCAF and Commander-in-Chief of RCAF Infantry Meas Sophea, and National Police Chief Neth Savoeun, into the list of permanent members of its central committee, according to a statement following the meeting.

Meanwhile, the party manifested that the current Prime Minister Hun Sen will become its candidate for the premiership of next national election in 2013.

CPP also vowed to make concerted efforts to win the local election, the statement added.

The participants of the plenum also expressed their support for the peace and stability as well as the economic and social development of the kingdom, the efforts of the military force to defend the country and people, the joint governance of CPP and the Funcinpec Party, and some other national issues.

CPP has remained as the major ruling party of the government since peace was restored in the kingdom in 1993.

what is new?!!! The Hun is to rule for life, to further the Vietcongs cause in Khmerland. Now a day, these foreign invaders don't even bother to change their true color--their real names. They show their real color in public in Khmerland, and rule Khmer to death and to marginalize to the country side.

With these leaders, I already know that Khmer in Cambodia are already ruled by the foreigners, not by the French and not the Americans at all???!!!!

All I can see is Peace and Security for Foreigners' control of Khmerland. That I agree!Sad indeed for Khmer race!

Ratanak, what change in the US government really? The core foundation and principle to which the US government has been run on remains the same. Democrat or Republican in the office, the US's policies and orders still remain the same.

People are so caught up blindly in the current wave of CHANGE with obama but if you just look around with all the past election the US had, all the candidates all run on the slogan of CHANGE. Even Bush did on his first term campaign. Bush was seen as the outside guy who you wanted to have a beer with.

Listen to Norm Chormsy if you want to see what kind of system the US really runs on. A single party state with economic factions is the term.

Someone once said that if the elected US presidents really carry out all CHANGES they promised during their campaign, the US would be an even better place than it is today.

That being said, I am proud of Cambodia's development today. Remember all you perfect-world-mongers, you can't have your cake and eat it too. The world isn't a perfect place. If the problems Cambodia is facing is exclusive to us, you have to look around the world a bit more, sir.

I am happy with our development and looking forward to improvement, unlike some of you cynics who can't see any color on the rainbow with all your negativity. If you want to live your life filled with negativity, be my guess. I'll be living for a colorful better tomorrow and appreciating the peaceful today.

What development you see in Cambodia? I don't see any positive development to help the Cambodian in general. I see only development to help those powerful politicians, tycoons, elites, and patrimony...etc

So, are you favoring this kind of development? US has changed its leader every mandate, this is the truth. You should not manipulate the truth. Cambodia has to change prime minister in at least 2 mandates, so Cambodian's family tree, cronyism, favoritism, patrimony etc will be split off. But if Cambodia cannot change Hun Sen, the term development is just a facade, a facade for the dictators...

If you love dictator to rule over your head, go with it. US has no dictator. US is run by the RULE OF LAWS, but the RULE OF Dictator.

And you 12:00AM are just a dandruffed dog Phnom Penh sent to Long Beach to bark for them. It's better if you do not show off your past position. In Phnom Penh your posistion looks great. In America, your past or present mean nothing; it's just shit!

The Vietcong control everything in Cambodia including the internet and the Vietcong don't need to own anything as long as billion and billion of dollars keep flowing to Vietname and AH HUN SEN can stay in power for another 1000 years!

AH HUN SEN and his Vietcong prostitute mentality ain't going anywhere!

Congratulation CPP,

You have been doing so many stupid things in the country but you still win the elections!!! Remember that CPP has never been winning the people's hearts yet, why don't you think about this?

Why do you thinking the Vietcongs are rewarding the Hun Sen gangs with so many honorary degrees? Because these agents(the CPPs) are doing great job to serve Vietcongs' interests in Khmerland. Look at VietTel is running the telecom/internet in Cambodia. VietTel is run by the Vietcongs army. Look at who is looking after Angkor Wat (Sok Kong--a True Viet blood). And the deforestation of Khmerland, rubber plantations, road construction, oil exploration are being run by the Vietcongs companies.

The development you are talking about here is Vietcongs development on the back of Khmer! And with a few (5%) of Cambodians(CPPs) are profiting while the 95% of Khmer are living dire poverty.

Proud of the CPPs success for enslaving to the Vietcongs. Very proud indeed!

Development won't be possible without stability and real qualified human resources. The latter would require more stability.

12:46 AM: agreed on some but not all. Development in the US as well as othe developed nations are almost at it equillibrium. You may not observe any move, but there is change. Just look at Obama's Energy Policy ... Bush administration was good at empty the national banks, while that of Obama has tried to put the money back.
