Many Cambodian women, especially female leaders of NGOs, are very reluctant to make any comments regarding the defamation suit between Mrs. Mu Sochua and Prime Minister Hun Sen, reports Radio Free Asia.
The Khmer Red Cross, whose leader is Hun Sen's wife, Ministry of Women Affairs whose the Minister is a woman from Mr. Hun Sen's Cambodian People's Party and other organisations whose leaders are all women are afraid to make any comments regarding the case because they are too afraid to be dragged into a political legal fight.
Mrs. Mu Sochua has sued prime Minister Hun Sen for defamation and Mr. Hun Sen has conter-sued her for the same reason.
Mrs. Mu Sochua's suit against Mr. Hun Sen stemmed from the comments he made in Kampot a few weeks earlier in which he blasted a 'woman MP from Kampot'. Mr. Mu Sochua is the only woman MP from Kampot and she considered Mr. Hun Sen's comments to be directed at her.
In his Kampot speech, Mr. Hun Sen said: "Those opposition people do not have anything other than using the people as their tools to attack the government. And in Kampot, there is a 'strong person' (cheung klang) who is a woman that I do not need to mention her name because there are other women like Mrs. Som Kim Sour, who is also a cheung klang. This woman is not strong in building anything, but strong in making trouble, creating one trouble after another, strong in inciting trouble, even during the election campaign she rushed to hug someone and accused that person of unbuttoning her blouse. It is really absurd. She is really good at taking legal action against someone. Even she didn't get invited to a conference, she still go to that meeting. One day, when I was leaving the conference I was informed that she was trying to get into the conference even when she was not invited. This is what we called the opposition people who have thick faces, even if we chop them with a machete 100 times, it won't cut through their faces. Their females are the same as their males and their leaders as well as the subordinates are all the same (trouble-makers)."
Mrs Mu Sochua believed that Mr. Hun Sen's speech was directed at her because she was the only woman who had an altercation with an army general from Mr. Hun Sen's ruling party during the election campaign where he had twisted her hand, causing the button of her blouse to fall off showing her bra.
Despite many women are too afraid to make any comments, some did make comments.
Miss Seng Theary, executive chairwoman of Centre of Social Development said: "Mrs. Mu Sochua is a member of parliament, a woman who is always fighting for the women's rights. We are of the opinion that if they are oppressing her, who is of high stature, then if they can oppress her, this shows of an action that is worrisome for us."
Dr. Pung Chiv Kek, chairwoman of another NGO called Licadho, said she regrets that this petty dispute had led to a court case. She said that if Mrs Mu Sochua is stripped off her parliamentary immunity it would mean that the case is a discrimination against a woman. She said: "The aims of the governement and the aims of the opposition parties are the same, that is to promote women's rights. Don't forget that our country had signed a convention abolishing the discrimination against women since 1992. That convention is called CEDAW whichh prohibits the discrimination against women."
Mrs. Phat Sotheary, a teacher, said as a man Mr. Hun Sen must be a little more forgiven to women. She said: "He is a man, he must be more forgiven to women."
Dr. (Mrs.) Lak Sopheap said any oppressions and threats against Mrs. Mu Sochua is an insult to the values of all women. She said: "He did not promote women's rights, instead he attacked a woman's rights who holds a very high leadership position. So it means that he did not think highly of women's values in general."
Mrs. Lim Mony, representative from an NGO called Adhoc, said Mr. Hun Sen's actions against Mrs. Mu Sochua will scare other women to stand up. She said: "Our government is trying push for the promotions of women to high office, to be brave, to know how to use their rights, to apply their rights and to be able to be given an opportunities from our society. These policies are the policies that help encourage the women to be brave. So everybody should implement these policies together."

Hun sen wouldn't dare fight youns, wouldn't dare fight thai. But he dare fight and big mouth his khmer people. Now he so low to fight a women.
What a disgraces to khmer and the international communities.
Look at his face so arrogant so snobbish! motherfucker! because so far no one dare kick his ass!
HUN SEN is a flip flopper. He said he like to see women brave now he is putting them down.
What a clown!!
A woman has a thic face is much better than Hun Sen who has a doggy nature. He never bites the outsiders but his own people. He'd rather embrace the enemies of Khmer people in general as long as he can bashfully stay in power. The power from which he has sold parts of Cambodia land and natural resources. What a doggy and shameless traitor and dictator is he!
We all know he has no education backround so what ever he said it is normanl for him. He think Cambodia people under of his power.
I would like to encourage to all the Khmer women around the world we need to stand up for our ritht and be brave, now the the world watching Hun Sen and his government everyday.
All because of Hun Sen's big mouth...
oign, oign, who face and nose look like SRP swine.
Why bother bringing law suit to the Cambodian court when you know that it's biased and corrupted.
A man who is fighting with a woman is a coward and is really cheap. Only a 'gangster" will treat women like this. From what we can read from his speech, the words Mr. Hun Sen used against Mrs. Mu Sochua are really demeaning and degrading, not only against Mrs. Mu Sochua but against all Khmer women in general.
Hun Xen wants the world and Khmer history to remember that a man like him fought with a women and won. Hun Xen and his teams should be a shame of themselve.
7:30AM,
You are damn right.
With all due respects, Mr. PM, please make a stop to this petty feud. You can make things better for everyone, especially yourself, by being the gentleman leader. Let Ms. Mu know that word s were said, you did not mean to demean or defame her. Once you did this, any continued squibble would be weighted on Ms. Mu and her party because it will appear that they will make a mountain out of a molehill. The acknowledgement will gain you respect and credential more than you would believe.
Ms. Mu, you are admired for your courage to stand up by what you believe was right, especially in an environment like Cambodia today where powerful men tend to run the shows. Sticking to princiles is not just a model for women, but for everyone in a healthy and just society. I hope that you and the Mr. PM will come to a noble and amiable resolution, providing when Mr. PM has clarified his position on the speech. Show the world that Khmers can get along and work together.
HUN SEN is Nak Leng!

Khmer Sayings:
"Never knock the egg against the rock"
Mou Sochua, I appreciate you daring. You already know the result of your legal action against Hun Sen, But never mind as you can show to the local and world public How Much Low Hun Sen's moral conduct is.
To Hun Sen, “People who live in glass houses should not throw stones”.
Mu Sochea, I like the way you attack Hun Sen, that is "from the front" not "fron the back".
Black Cat,
shihanouk put cambodian peoples under the dust of his feets and HUN SEN DID THE SAME. Mrs Mu sue 500 riels and hun sen counter sue for 10 millions riels. that the way he trash Khmers and he will wins because all judge belong to him .
ALL THE WOMEN SHOULD REBEL AGAINST THAT MONSTER, he has no right to badmouth people and then still call himself the one that support WOMEN RIGHT !!! i guess he only believe in HIS RIGHT, not international right or women right or anybody else Right. anyway i wonder how about his wife opinion on this matter ! if she thinks that her husband is right then i guess she shouldn't be the head of RED CROSS and better not believe anything in this family anymore.
They try to be nice because they know that all those bad things that they did to Khmer people will come and get them soon like ah hok lungdy.
No matter how many donation or bone you will do, GOD will never forgive you... DIE to those ANIMAL and MONSTER
This frivolous litigation must be thrown out; Prime Minister Hun Sen has other important issues to deal with (particularly during these tumultuous times) to have this country moving forward.
PPU
A countersuit brought by Prime Minister Hun Sen is fundamentally just (and, of course, impartial), and we're certain that the overwhelming majority of Cambodian people are supporting him, inarguably.
PPU
PPU A KON MI CHOR Ké CHOY ...
I 'll go TO KILL .....
On behalf of prime minister's supporters, we have a complete confidence that Prime Minister Hun Sen will be exculpated with all (frivolous and extraneous)charges against a (unsubstantiated and groundless) litigation that was brought up this un-Cambodian female leader, yet with no substance ... baseless.

Are you "Cambodian" or "Can'tbodian"?
Of course, you're spectator -- not participator. In fact, you're from a nation of whiner. Plus, you have to be part of solution -- not problem. Profanity will not get you anywhere.
PPU
I think that Samdech Hun Sen should not have a fight with a woman. Cambodian proverb says "NOT TO FIGHT WITH A WOMEN AND NOT TO HAVE A CASE TO THE COURT!" Please Samdech Hun Sen looks at HER Mouth, Cambodian people said "មាត់ដាច!" and because she is the style of "មីកប៉ាល់ភ្លើង!". I know her too well. Please if possible spare her! Thanks!
2:55 PM
He has every right to fight anyone (not just her), as long as he does not argue with the women.
A real man will fight head to head , shoulder to shoulder -- since the argument is a waste of time (at least, not puok Ah Khmer-overseas escapees).
PPU
EXTRA , EXTRA READ ALL ABOUT IT.
" HUN SEN IS THE BIGGEST JACKAZZ IN MODERN DAY HISTORY "
Hey you Phnom Penh University guy, you must still be a young barking dog, keep barking to get some bone. I still don't think Phnom Penh University produce such a retard student like you PPU.
Vannak
PPU, It is Mrs Mu Sochua who has every right to sue Mr. Hun Sen for defamation. He said it. It is on tape. Mr. Hun Sen has used his executive powers many times to order the court what to do. This time it won't be any different. If he is 'chet soeung' he should fight with her in an independent court like in America or Australia. The Cambodian is corrupt and 100% biased.
I think the KI must have enough of "PPU."
