Thai cabinet asked to sack Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya

Reported by Khmerization

The majority members of the Thai cabinet wanted the Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva to reshuffle his cabinet. They also proposed the removals of two cabinet ministers, Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya (pictured) and Deputy Prime minister Korbsak Sabhavasu who is also a Finance Minister, report Deum Ampil newspaper.

The majority of the cabinet members consider the two ministers to be too controversial to serve in the cabinet. The cabinet members were angry with Mr. Korbsak because of his reluctance to spend money in the constituencies proposed by the coalition members from the minor parties.

They wanted Mr. Kasit removed because he was a leader of the yellow-shirted protesters who had occupied many Thai airports during their protests in December of 2008, reports Deum Ampil.

Mr. Kasit had also made many controversial remarks against Cambodian PM Hun Sen by calling him a "kuy" (gangster) during one of his TV appearances. During the parliamentary debate last month he had infuriated Mr. Hun Sen by calling him "a gentleman with the heart of a gangster" (suparp burot jai nak leng) which had culminated into armed clashes between Thai and Cambodian troops on 3rd April 2009 that resulted in at least 4 Thai soldiers killed.

Well, if Thailand wants a good relationship with Cambodia, Kasit has to go. He can't work with Cambodian leaders because of his many insults against PM Hun Sen.

A Foreign Minister of a country need to be very diplomatic and the one who can foster good relationships other countries. Kasit cannot foster good relationship with Cambodia, but instead had stirred up more frictions with the Cambodian leaders, so he has to go.

That is a really big conclusion. I think you're over generalizing and making connections that are a really lose.

I think if Kasit didn't insult Hun Sen the fight on 3rd April would not occur. Because Hun Sen was angry with Kasit's insult , that's why he gave orders to shoot if Thais encroached any further. Before Kasit insulted Hun Sen, the Khmer troops never shoot when Thais encroached. So there is a connection, I think. The same, on 15th October 2008 the Thais had angered Hun Sen because, while their FM were talking to Hunn Sen in Phnom Penh, on the grounds their troops were encroaching. Hun sen was angry and gave ultimatum and the fighting occurred.

For real, Kasit has to go!
For a high rank official or MP, he needs to be more intellectual or professional rather than street talking.

Though I'm really proud of HUN SEN with his diplomatic attitude.

Kasit highly educated just like Rannariddh but failed to practice it in diplomatic fashion.

Kasit has to go and never come back in Thailand's political.
