Updated Thai casualties number: 26 dead and 34 injured

Translated from Khmer by Socheata

The Kampuchea Thmei newspaper quoted a Cambodian commander on the frontline in Veal Entry as saying that there were 26 Thai soldiers who died in the frontline, 34 were injured, and 275 went AWOL (Absent Without Leave). According to this commander, there were some discrepancies with the initial casualty number because recently Thai soldiers came to fetch their dead comrades in the fighting zones, therefore this number increases to 26. This number does not include those soldiers who were injured and died in Thai hospitals yet. General Srey Doek, commander of Battalion 3, said that during the fight on that day, Thailand launched numerous rockets toward the Veal Entry zone, located at the foothill of Preah Vihear temple. Srey Doek said that Thai troops truly wanted to damage Cambodian temple, a case in point is the deliberate destruction of the market located at the foothill of Preah Vihear temple. During the day of the clash, Thailand wanted to kill Cambodian villagers living in that market, however, it was sheer luck that these villagers left the area about one hour before the rocket shelling by Thailand.

It is so outrageous that these fucken Siem bastard claimed that Khmer Phrea Vihear belong to them and they value it as their religious temple but in the heat of the conflict and they chose to shoot at the temple with their machine guns and rockets!

These fucken Siem bastards better watch out because all of the Siem religious temple or building in Thailand won't be safe either if they dare to destroy Khmer Phrea Vihear temple!

This is not a warning!

What the fuck does this have anything to do with political parties in Cambodia? It's a military conflict. You need to learn to see things for what it is, not what your preconceived perception of things tell you to.

Maybe you should man up, pussy, and go to the front line and ask our soldiers if they are lying about this huh? You fucking pussy. I'm pretty sure our Khmer soldiers will appreciate your sorry ass tell them to their face that they are lying. These guys put their lives at the front line while your sorry ass sit comfortably behind your pc screen and scrutinize them.

Yea, go to the front line and ask them if they are lying. Go, dude. What the fuck are you waiting for?

275 Absent without leave? That's just a nicer way of saying deserters. That kinda makes sense. Remember how Thai military quickly went in 1000 of their special force troops right after the clash. It looked like after the fight, the Thai soldiers run from their posts and Thai military needed soldiers to cover for those runaways.

I can believe it because I bet many of those runaways are Khmer Surin. They said it already before the fight that if something happens, they would not fight and run back home.

I got to admire our Khmer army. Lesser equipped but we got more will and spirit than the Thai. It's better to be a defender than an invader any day.

I don't know folks, it seems like we (Khmer) people are killing Khmer (Surin) again. Most of Southeast Asians are alike but we hate each other like cat and dog. Something is wrong with all of us while the Western people just sit and enjoy the show. Stop fighting and let's stop all the greed. Remember: what you treat others is like you treat yourself. We're all will suffer if we don't stop this. The history is just keep repeating itself.

Sorry for our Khmer Brother from other side of the border, in case you involved and died during this fight. Anyway we still love you as our blood brothers

Killing Khmer again for Yuon, that is really nice.

You can't prove "Killing Khmer for Youn." But I can say Killing Khmers for Thai. How about the Khmer descents live in the areas from former Khmer Kingdom ? Did the world knows about the Khmer in Siem-land, no Khmer school or not allowed to speak Khmer ? But the world knows about the Khmer in Mekong Delta (Basac).

STOP to say : Siem-land or Yuon-land. Those land are belonging to those khmers who leaving there. So we should say : Nokor Reach and Kampuchea Krom.

Thanks for the information. Nokor Reach (Mekong Delta) means the part of the Khmer Kingdom.

This is baseless news by Khmer newspapers. Why do we read this kind lie?

How do you know? Your own Thai delegates also acknowledged similar number (22) during the border talk in Phnom Penh.

we should concern about how many khmer soldiers died or injured and what we should do to help or share our condolence for those who suffered--military and civilians.

i personally doens't care much about the thais because there is no gain to think about that. if we talk about more suffer more, i think our khmer people that include the casualties and the destruction of our khmer town nearby and its residents.

Well if they are Khmer Surin or not if they step in again we have our right to shoot. If those Khmer Surin think they are Khmer they shoot turn their weapons to the Thai thief.

Khmer always love Khmer but if those Khmer Surin sells their soul, heart and mind to the Thai that is not Khmer.

All Khmer wake up!!!

Khmer Surin should form a resistance force just like those Muslim minority in the south of Thailand to declare an autonomous area too.

WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

15% accurated figures.

Pol Pot 1980-1993 used to propaganda that The Democratic Kampuchea soldiers had killed hundred and even thousands of Youn and its puppet Heng Samrin soldiers. The final battle Khmer Rouge and Pol Pot was dead. Its leaders are being trailed.

How reliable this casualties numbers by Everyday.com.kh? If it’s that true, how come no report came out from other news sources such as P. Penh post, Kohsentepheap, radio freeasia and VOA?

Remember the Kosovo? Kosovo is an sister state of the Albania. And if the don't want to join with ALbania they can declare an autonomy or independent by itself. In the comparison Khmer Surin can do the same. If they don't want to join the Khmer they can seek to self determination and down the road can declare independent beside Cambodia.

If they don't want to the Thai to be mad, they can be independent by itself.

Khmer Surin wake up and form a resistance force to get your freedom.

I am happy to see those Khmer Surin namely all Khmer in Thailand to rise up and be their own.

I am supporting that movement.

It's true that this could just be a propaganda machine of the cpp. remember the cpp and KR are originated from one source. the KR used lies and propaganda to broadcast on radio. Now the cpp is adapting the KR propaganda tactics to tell khmer people lies. Once again someone said: history repeats itself. the KR got brainwashed by the stupid china and they lied about everything.

Should thank our Vietnamese friends who helped us fighting along the frontlines.

Let's do it again.
