More than 79,700 Vietnamese visited Cambodia over the past three months, marking an increase of 49 percent over the same period last year, according to the Cambodian Ministry of Tourism.
Cambodian Tourism Minister Thong Khon said Vietnamese tourists outnumbered visitors from the Republic of Korea to account for the largest part of foreign visitors to Cambodia in the first quarter of this year.
About 62,600 RoK visitors came to Cambodia in the reviewed period, a remarkable reduction from 97,500 in the corresponding period last year, said the tourism ministry.
To lure visitors in time of the global economic crisis, the Cambodian Tourism Ministry has turned to less-affected countries in addition to promoting new eco-tours.
The ministry has especially streamlined entry-exit procedures for tourists from the neighbouring countries of Vietnam, Thailand and Laos, allowing them to enter the three Cambodian border provinces with laissez-passers and stay for a week instead of three days as applied before.
Chairman of the Cambodian Travel Association, Ang Kim Eang, was optimistic that political stability would help bring more foreign visitors to his country.

It sound very good to hear that many tourist from Veit Nam to cambodia, I hope that is tourist not just someone who come and never go back,so how many veitnamis people who live in Cambodia with passport and visa?and how many without?
They call themself as tourists, instead they came to stay, to help hunkvak to win next election, and these people never intend to go back. The gov. used the word tourist just to sway reality.
I'm very concern about the vietnamese tourist in cambodia! I don't want to see the kingdom of cambodia turn into another kampuchea krom ( southern part of cambodia currently under the vietnamese goverment). The vietnamese come to Cambodia to invade Cambodia Again like in the 1980 but this time they coming in with the civilian, most of the Cambodia leader today is Not the REall Cambodian: Example_ Hor nam Hong ( Ho Nam Hong) Var Kim Hong ( Hong Kim Va) Hun Sen ( huynh San). Cambodian people Need to wake Up! there is vietnamese spy agent all over Cambodian today and I have learn that All Cambodian Leader today is working for their vietnamese master and a pupput of Hanoi. Cambodia today need to getaway doing business with the communist vietnamese in order to be a seft independent country.
Since visa requirements between cambodia and vietnam has been eliminated it allows easier flow of tourists between the two countries. I am sure that the flow of cambdian "medical" tourist has increased significantly to vietnam.I witnessed this on a weekend trip to Saigon.
The vietnamese tourists help the cambodian tourist industry though they might not spend as much as the koreans.
in any case with such a porous border any vietnamese wishing to 'immigrate' to cambodia can do so without having to pay for a paasport.Si I guess those are legitimate tourists.
Thats the way it should be if we want to be prosperous neighbors.

Then, what do you think about this issue? I believe that all Khmer people from around the world and I'm talking the Khmer communities that anti the Vietnamese (another land grabber with all kind of soft trick) go to the international court and complaint to the UN. Hun Sen will not help us with this issue. We all need to take action and stick together to kick all the youn out of our lovely nation. Don't just talk and we need to take action as soon as possible. Think about this, almost 80 million of Youns vs. 14 million Khmer. Soon or later they are going to take our land if we just keep talking about this issue but do not do anything about it.

youns shouldn't have any right whatsoever to visit cambodia, especially staying illegally.
one way to screen for illegal viets in cambodia is to check for visa or id. if it youn who live illegally in cambodia and speak fluent khmer, deport them back to srok youn. no illegal viets in cambodia. visitors on the other hands are ok. we're talking about illegal immigrants here!
