HA NOI — Viet Nam will sell more than 1 billion kWh of electricity per year to Cambodia, according to the Electricity of Viet Nam Group.

The latest electricity purchase amends a contract between the EVN and Cambodian utility Electricite Du Cambodge first signed in July 2000.

The amended agreement also calls for Viet Nam to build a transformer in Chau Doc in An Giang Province and more than 26km of line to deliver power from there to the Cambodian border. Cambodia, meanwhile, will lay more than 50km of line from the border to a 220kV transformer in Takeo Province, and another 46km to a 220kV transformer in the capital city of Phnom Penh.

Slow construction progress on the Cambodian side has delayed the completion of the project from 2003 to 2009, according to the group.

If VN's gonna built their electricity plant in Cambodia and if Cambodia will spend a lot of money to buy it from VN, why the hell Cambodia does not built it, or is it just a smart game of sharing benefit between the boss and the puppets?

It is most affordable for Cambodia to buy electricity from Vietnam.

I certainly agreed with 5:51am

It's business and Cambodians need electricity. Just like in New York most electricity come from Canada.

When Cambodia wanted to build dams for electricity, you ignorant fools complain.

When Cambodia has to buy electricity from Vietnam because it is the cheapest electricity available, you ignorant fools complain again. Cambodia really need cheap power to power its economy. The Cambodian people in Cambodia (real Cambodians) will benefit a lot from cheap power because it is more affordable for them.

If you ignorant fools like to complain so much, Where do you ignorant fools expect Cambodia to get electricity from?

So like 5:51AM, leave necessities such as electricity from politics because Cambodian people really need it.
