Cambodian officials said that Cambodia is still waiting for an answer from Thailand in regard to a $2.1 million compensation it had lodged 0n 11th May against Thailand for the destruction of 264 stalls during the fighting on 3rd April, reports Radio Free Asia.

Mr. Koy Kuong, spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said Cambodia wants to give Thailand time to think over the compensation claim, but he did not specify how long Cambodia can wait. He said: "Because we want to give them more time to think over among the Thai leadership first."

According to media reports, Thailand had already verbally rejected the compensation claim by stating that those stalls and market were built inside Thai territory.

But Mr. Var Kimhong, chairman of Cambodian Border Committee, claimed that those stalls were built inside Khmer territory. He said: "It is not very difficult to understand. The Thais claimed that the territory is theirs, but they have to show ownership documents to prove that that territory is theirs."

Mr. Rong Chhun, president of the Cambodian Independent Teachers Association, said that Cambodia's stance regarding border disputes with Thailand is very weak. He said: "(Our government's) stance is very, very weak. (The government) is very scared of Thailand."
Mr. Moeung Son, chairman of the Khmer Civilisation Foundation who lodged the same compensation claim on behalf on victims a few weeks before the government's claim, said that he will send another letter to the Thai embassy very soon to request for the payment of the compensation. He said if the Thai government refuses to pay, he will take the matter to the international stage or to the UN for help.

He said: "if they did not respond to our request one week before 7th July, the date of our anniversary celebration, we will absolutely make a complaint to the UN."

Cambodia claimed that during the armed clashes on 3rd April, Thai troops deliberately shelled the market and a village located near Preah Vihear temple, destroying 264 stalls and made 319 families homeless.

Hun Sen must be strong and tough with Thailand, otherwise Thailand will send troops to occupy this plot of land and claim it as their own. Cambodia should start building the market there again, the sooner the better. If not, Thailand will claim that land again.

Don't say that 7:57 AM, all of the Hun-Senist out there may not like it (j/k)!

Well! If this is the case and I want AH Mann Chhoeun to document these so called professional squatters and take legal action against them!

The Siem break it and the Siem will pay for it! The Siem leaders better take ownership of the damage unless the Siem leaders want to see a rerun of the past! In the past the Cambodian government paid for the damage to Siem properties in million of dollars and it is only logically that the Siem must do the same!

Well! Like Mr. Var Kimhong said: "It is not very difficult to understand. The Thais claimed that the territory is theirs, but they have to show ownership documents to prove that that territory is theirs."

Please don't tell me that the Siem leaders still use the same map which drawn by the Siem so called expert that is not internationally recognized t which laid claim to the whole Cambodia!

I remember watching a WWII documentation featured ex-German soldiers being asked why they burnt down Russian villages during their invasion in USSR. They simply answered that the Russian houses were not up to human standard, unlike the German ones, so they just burnt it as if they were bird nests or termite mounts...all are regarded as belonging to animals.

This should reflect why the Thais dont pay the compensation for shelling and burning the Khmer Villages.

Well, the Russian house didn't have anything in them but the Cambodian houses have consumer products which worth in the million of dollars!

You don’t have to think for the Siem and these Siem bastards know that they will have to pay up otherwise the Siem embassy will be the next target and please don't even ask the Cambodian government to pay the damage in return!

Cambodian don’t need Siem friendship!

10:13AM, I'd have more diplomatic criticism than 10:54AM. Sorry 10:54AM I don't mean to intimidate you.

10:13AM, put it this way; you were robbed and now you're wanting to rob to recover your loss? It's unlawful and you'll be blamed. Then you'll fall in the Siamese trap; they're wanting you to do that so that all their bad acts will be justified and we'll be condemned. Remember that in the international arena, the Siamese has more voice than us...

The only problem I see with regard to Preah Vihear dispute is that both sides are politicizing the issue. If Cambodian government really wants to resolve the problem, it will not hesitate to refer the case to the international body as it has very strong legal stance.

Well, if Hun Sen keep his mouth shut like this, do you think the Thais will pay? No way. Hun Sen to be serious, have to pursue this case all the way. It is not about the money, it is about the violation of Cambodian sovereignty and territorial integrity.

cambodia and khmer people demand that thailand must compensate our people of loss due their violation of international treaty and invasion of cambodia. local people lost their business, home, etc, not to mention they got displaced and have had a lot of anguish and depression problem due to thai violation on cambodia.

Fuck you Siem bitch! I don't need to be told to do my homework! It is okay by me for the Siem bastards to step on your head and you not getting pay but the fucken problem is that it is not your fucken head that I am talking about! It is Khmer properties worth in the million dollars! The target of Khmer properties and Khmer Phrea Vihear temple which is not a military target is against international law. Therefore the Siem bastards must pay for the collateral damage!

To 1:30PM

This is not the issue of who is robbing who! This is the issue of collateral damage on Khmer properties and Khmer temple! It is unlawful to destroy Khmer properties and to shoot at Khmer Phrea Vihear temple!
Do the Siem bastards know how to choose military target besides targeting Khmer civilian and Khmer temple? This is against military doctrine! If the fucken Siem bastards want to fight a dirty war and they are more than welcome because Cambodia as a nation been through it all!

By the way, fuck the Siem voice and Cambodian government doesn’t need to scream to be heard and if the international community want to take side with the Siem bastard without understanding the real issue base on international law and it is them who will hold responsibility for creating instability in South East Asia!
