At the same time as an expert witness testifying in the Khmer Rouge Tribunal that "Prime Minister Hun Sen used to be a member of the Khmer Rouge regime, Mr. Heng Samrin (pictured), another ex-Khmer Rouge leader and an ex-Head of State of the Vietnam-backed regime from 1979-1991, has revealed for the first time the origin of the anti-Khmer Rouge movement in the late 1970s, reports Deum Ampil.
Mr. Heng Samrin said 24th May that the anti-Pol Pot movement was formed in Anlong Chrey village, Kok commune in Ponhea Krek district of Kampong Cham province in 1977.
Heng Samrin said that Anlong Chrey was a village which received the most heavy destruction during the American bombings and during the anti-Khmer Rouge resistance.
He said that the "American imperialists and its lackeys" conducted the heaviest bombardments of the Ponhea Krek district, especially Anlong Chrey village. According to Heng Samrin, in 1964, 12 villagers were tragically killed by the American bombings near his home in the village of Anlong Chrey.
Beside the event of the 1964 bombings, Anlong Chrey was the historical birthplace of the "United Front for National Salvation" and a significant base of the anti-Pol Pot movement where many nationalist leaders were based. He said: "Anlong Chrey is a village where all the anit-Khmer Rouge forces gathered and planned their strategy to topple the Khmer Rouge regime. The creation of the armed movement in order to form a "national front" was supportd by the people from Anlong Chrey to as far as Snuol district. After the armed movement was formed, there was a universal declaration of the creation in Snuol district (of the United Front for National Salvation of 2nd December, 1978)."
Mr. Heng Samrin, ex-Head of State of Cambodia from 1979-1991, claimed that during the Khmer Rouge regime he was the "commander of divivion 4" based in Anlong Chrey village in the Eastern Zone where families of the key members of the Khmer Rouge, such as the families of Nuon Chea, Ieng Sary and his wife Ing Thirith, Pol Pot and his wife Khieu Ponnary and Yun Yat, wife of KR Minister of Defence Son Sen, had visited. The wife of Nop Bophann, editor of "Pracheachun" newspaper, who was shot dead (in the village?) had also visited the village.

don't forget that during the KR era, there were good KR soldiers and there were bad ones as well. so, mr. heng samrin and other anti-khmer rouge resistance forces were the good ones, meaning they don't like to kill or execute their own people for no apparent reason. unlike these good former KR soldiers who at that time were all fighting for the same cause, at least in the beginning, of course, not knowing the brutal KR (who would've thought the victorious KR regime would go to advocate killing their own people and destroying the country like that!) anyway, naturally there were resistance forces within the KR echalon because toward the end of the 70s, the KR regime wanted to get rid of all their untrusted opponents, and mr. heng samrin and others former KR soldiers of course were targeted for killing due to changes in the leadership system within the KR chain of command, etc... so, mr. heng samrin and others like mr. hun sen, mr. chea sim, etc were all good KR soldiers who didn't like to follow brutal orders from pol pot to kill anyone he deemed "enemies of the state", etc... so, please understand history before ignorantly just trying to give a bad name to the so-called "former KR soldiers." that's why they were called " KR defactors." and good at cambodia now, being saved from catastrophic destruction by the hands of the KR, and cambodia is finally saved till this day. god bless cambodia.
In the Eastern Zone, where Heng Samrin, Hun Sen and Chea Sim were leaders, more people have been executed than any other parts of the country. These ex-KR leaders did participate in the killings in the Eastern Zone like throwing grenades and cut the throats of critically ill patients in a hospital in 1974. They only escaped to Vietnam because Pol Pot wanted to kill them, not because they disliked the killings that have taken place in Cambodia at the time.
Remember, more people were executed in Eastern Zone where Hun Sen and Heng Samrin were the leaders during the KR regime.
also don't forget that the so-called eastern zone soldiers and commands were being replaced by more aggressive, brutal soldiers and commanders later on, it wasn't mr. heng samrin, mr. hun sen, etc. and don't forget that one of the mentioned killing were probably went on before 1974, which was during the lon nol regime just before the infamous KR took over in 1975. before 1975, they were fighting for a different cause, almost like a revenge against the lon nol soldiers and regime because they ousted the then prince sihanouk's regime. so, it was a civil war then; they didn't know how the pol pot KR would try to destroy cambodia and kill as many khmer as they can during their infamous, brutal rule from 1975 until early 1979. please don't confuse the two wars, one was before the KR took over and then the one during the KR regime. so, these were two different gov't fighting then. get it straight already! god bless cambodia.

I have read many of the stories posted on there but it seems they also report the injustice going in Cambodia. It seems DAP is more unbiased than this KI. How? You can see them reporting good but also bad of what is going on about the Khmer government. Unlike KI who only picks out the bad stuff and omit any good news from the Khmer government.
Name one time when I see an positive article about good progress made by the Cambodian Government that posted on here. You can't because KI doesn't practices what it preaches.
To me, it looks like DAP is more neutral than this KI people. Read their stories. They report the good progress but when bad things happen done they also report those too.

What happened in the past can be debated, but what's happening now is obvious enough that Hun Sen has been a killer, a dictator and a robber. There is enough evidences that he should be tried in court.

I remember that while Phnom Penh was taken over by the Yuon invaders, there was a DC4 airplane flying to spread thousands of tracts over Battambang province. The Khmer words on those tracts were more that 50% spelled wrong because the Yuons who know Khmer barely were the ones who made the tracts, not Khmers made them.
Heng Samrin, Hun Sen and chea Sim and other CPP leaders must be investigated for crimes they committed during the KR regime. If they are found to be implicated in the crimes, the KR court must summon them to answer the charges. Hun Sen and Heng Samrin were implicated in the killings and slashing the throats of critically ill patients in 1974, so they must face the charges.

Heng Samrin and Chea Sim were cattle thieves during the Issarak movement in the 1940s and 1950. and Hun Sen was a Khmeng Wat (temple boy) in the 1960s and 1970s before he joined the Khmer Rouge and threw grenades and cut the throats of critically ill patients in a hospital in 1974. According to my supidity of acknowledge, the missions were intentionally to be failed, if they (Pol Pot's adopted son, Heng Samrin, Pen Savann...) were successful of assassinations, Youn could not have the simple excuse to invade Srok Khmer. In 1977, first Youn invaded Takeo, then three months later, repeatedly invaded the Easter Zone. If you guys did not historically know that Heng Samrin and his soldiers who twice opened the gate's border and easily allowed Youn getting inside, when they were supposed to defend.
