The Phnom Penh city authority refused to allow Khmer Krom associations to organize the 60th anniversary of France’s transfer of Kampuchea Krom to Vietnam. The memorial is planned to be held at the public park located in front of Wat Botum Pagoda at the beginning of June. According to The Cambodia Daily, Pa Socheatvong, the deputy governor of the city of Phnom Penh, said on Thursday that the Phnom Penh city authority will not allow Khmer Krom associations to hold this memorial at this location. Pa Socheatvong said that the loss of Kampuchea Krom is merely past history. On Thursday, Thach Setha, executive Director of the Khmer Kampuchea Krom Community, said that he is saddened to see the city hall refusing to allow the memorial to be held there this year, however, he said that he will negotiate with the city authority to use this location because even the king’s representative will participate in this ceremony as well. On 04 June 1949, the colonial French regime transferred Cambodia’s land of Cochinchina to the Vietnamese government.

The city and the CPP will not dare to stop us as this could potentially provoke a massive rebellion or social unrest. Understand that many people vote for CPP, but it does not mean that they agree with CPP to suppress Khmer protests against the Vietnamization.
I also ask the organizers to select a symbol of the protest so that we can make a national emblem and have it printed on T-shirts. We can then ask all Khmers everywhere in Cambodia and around the world to wear that T-shirts during the memorial day. They will be show of force and solidarity for all Khmers.
My Khmer compatriots, this is our moment and we are making history. Let the struggle begin and we will win!

AH Pa Socheatvong thinking is in line with the Vietcong leader thinking and that is to make the Khmer people forget about the loss of the Khmer Krom to the Viet naked aggression! But how can the Khmer people forget because it involved million and million of Khmer people life who can feel the pain and the suffering!
AH Pa Socheatvong doesn't need to be the spoke person for the Vietcong government on the Khmer Krom issue because he salary is paid for by Cambodian government and any such negative think or remark and AH Pa Socheatvong should keep to himself in the future! It is about time to dig deep into his personal history and what is his involvement with the Vietcong government for him to come out make such unwanted remark?
