Cambodia had deployed 30 troops to Chak Chreng, a Cambodian territory about one kilometre west of Ta Sem Pass, after 20 Thai troops had been camping in the area for nearly a week and refused to withdraw, reports Koh Santepheap.
Chak Chreng is located 6oo metres on top of Phnom Dangrek mountain and about 7 kilometre from Preah Vihear temple.
According to maps from the 1904-1908 treaty Chak Chreng is a Cambodian territory, but the Thais used their own unilaterally-drawn maps and claimed that the area is located in Thai territory. They said they will withdraw only if their commanders asked them to withdraw or when the Khmer-Thai Border Commission completed their demarcation works in the area, which have not started yet.
Gen. Srey Doek, commander of the Preah Vihear precinct, said that the Thais still refuse to withdraw after four negotiations with the Thai commander. He said that Cambodia had shown patience and restraint since the first day of the border conflicts which started when Thai troops occupied the Preah Vihear areas on 15th July, 2008. The general said that the Thais took advantage of the Cambodian patience and continued to cause one trouble after another.
Cambodian commanders said that tensions at Chak Chreng can lead to armed clashes if Thai troops still refuse to withdraw.

thailand has no concept of respecting the international treaty. they seems to always come up with their own unilateral map which of course not officially agreed upon with cambodia. cambodia only honors the 1907-1908 treaty map; any new map that thailand (siem) later unilaterally drawn up by taking advantage of civil conflict in cambodia and so is never recognized as official map by any cambodian people and gov't. i'm sure once we take them to court again. this issue will be settled permanently. cambodia will deal with them by using the international law and international treaty, etc... thailand is barking up the wrong tree or biting on more than they can chew! it's called greed, to say the least. god bless cambodia.
go back home thailand, this is not a way to keep peace with cambodia! god bless cambodia.
It shows that Thailand does not want to use peaceful means to settle border disputes. They tried to occupy all areas first before border demarcations. Any areas they occupied now will become the new demarcation lines, whether Cambodia like it or not. If Thailand is a law-abiding country, Thailand has nothing to worry to use the 1904-1908 treaty because it is the only internationally-recognized document between the two countries.

Come on, folks! Perhaps everyone here is disproportionately reacted to the situation. Everything is already in control. There's no sense of getting fretted or jitter about the situation.
