The Sam Rainsy Party (SRP) has expelled nine councillors who took bribes and voted for the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) during the municipal election on 16-17 May, 2009.
In a statement released to the media, the SRP had named the nine councillors, all of whom are from Phnom Penh City.
During the 16-17th May municipal election, the SRP lost 10% of its votes because some of the councillors took bribes and voted for the CPP. According to the SRP, some councillors had been offered up $15oo, a substatial sum considering that ordinary workers earn only $50 per month. However, there are some SRP's councillors who refused to accept the bribes and voted for the SRP.

I am not the fellow that wrote Hun Sen is the “best man”. You misquoted him. He did not say Hun Sen is the "best man" Khmer ever have. What he said was:” he is the best Khmer got right now.” Be careful when you quote someone. You have to be precise, otherwise you jeopardize your own credibility and reasoning.
Back to the main point: Is Hun Sen the best Khmer got right now?. The answer depends on your political affiliation or belief. Most of the people here would say no! and they are certainly entitled to their own opinion. To me the “yes” or “no” answer is not important. The important thing is how people come to that conclusion. What I wish to see happening is that people learn to intelligently take into account all the facts and make judgement based on those facts rather than based on some unattainable idealism or emotion. If we all do that, we would have solved a lot of problems our nation is facing.

When I said that guy should learn something from me since he called himself illiterate and me educated, I was just making a rhetorical statement using his own logic.
All I was saying is that he seems to think that everyone who thinks differently from him are the scums or filth and whatnot.
If you think your ideas and beliefs are the only right one, you are once again a product of the failure of human ego. You call others ignorant but funny enough you ironically become what you call others in a sense that you don't seem to be able to understand that what is right for you isn't necessarily right for others.
So what if someone has ideas aligned with your political opponent, CPP, for example. Do you think that person is automatically wrong just because he has values different from yours? If you do think so, you need to look at yourself a bit more when you judge others.
We all have this but some know and admit we do it and try not to let that affect our judgment too much.

I respect your opinion just as I respect that of other people in this forum, and you are absolutely entitled to your opinion like everyone else regardless of your line of thinking. To me, it is irrelevant that a person is a CPP supporter or an SRP supporter, as long as he is working for Khmer interest. There are dishonourable people in CPP just as there are dishonourable people in the SRP. Likewise, there are real and hardworking patriots in CPP just as there are good people in SRP. I have observed and studied Hun Sen and Sam Rainsy political manoeuvring for years and I have even met and talked to one them in person not too long ago. In my humble opinion, I have a clear idea of what each of them is capable of in term of running the country. I would like to keep that opinion to myself as I want to respect, and not influence other people opinon.

I cannot support this idea of expelling someone for voting someone at all. If SRP member has voted for CPP by his own conscience, SRP cannot expel them at all. It is a freedom of expression. But if SRP has expelled his memnber for corruption, then SRP has also be able to revoke CPP members who have won election by bribery too. I am writing in here only to serve my conscience as I need nothing from any body. In this world, I have more than enough to live to properity and in dignity. I can not only to challenge Cambodian leaders but even any leader of my residence. All Cambodian intellectuals must go back to listen President Barack Obama speeches during his campaign election and should learn from him to unite Cambodian again. Those councilors who sold themselves to cpp through bribery and kickback should be imprisoned because what they did is a crime. They breached their contract when they raised their hand to take the oath of office. It is too easy for these councilors to leave SRP by being expelled from the party.
If they are the members of srp and decide to cast their vote for cpp then it is their right to do so, but for them to take kickback and vote for cpp is a breach of contract to srp. Switching political party is normal in any democratic country as long as you don';t sell yourself. If anyone is unhappy with his/her political party he/she has right to switch to a different party.
The method of bribery has happend before and it is the reason why Funcinpec was virtually dissolved in 1997. It's partof the cpp political game to break up political party in cambodia. In the year leading to the coup of 1997 many of Funcinpec high ranking members were given properties such as houses and lands for free by the cpp so they ended up working for cpp.
