WAT BAKAN, PURSAT PROVINCE, Cambodia (May 29, 2009) -- Marines with 3rd Medical Battalion, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, had a ball spending time with children at the medical and dental civil action program held here by the sailors of 3rd Medical Battalion, last week.

When Marines, providing the security and communications for the Cambodian Interoperability Program, noticed the need for the children to be entertained while their parents received medical care, they took the initiative and purchased volleyballs at the local market.

The idea belonged to Sgt. John Sulzynski, a security liaison team member with 3rd Medical Battalion.

"Sgt. Ski's compassion for the children really motivates me," said 2nd Lt. Brian Harrington, the officer in charge of the security liaison team, 3rd Medical Battalion.

Once the first few children began to play with the Marines, the rest of the children joined in playing improvised games of soccer and volleyball.

"The children were a little shy at first, until we started to throw the ball with them and got them to throw it back," Sgt. Jason J. Miller, a radio operator with 3rd Medical Battalion. "It was amazing."

As the games progressed, the children noticed the Marines were not fully accustomed to the heat of Cambodia.

"The kids were not sweating at all, but I was drenched," said Cpl. Daniel Chavez, a tactical data network specialist with 3rd Medical Battalion. "They pointed at me and started fanning themselves and laughing."

The medical and dental civil action programs were part of the Cambodia Interoperability Program, from May 11-20.

No one can teach anyone the truth. Truth is self-discovered.

Do you really expect the GI ( a United States Army soldier)or the U.S. to teach the children of Cambodia the truth? The truth about what?

If I were you, I would not expect too much from them.

The UN had brought AIDS epidemic to the Kingdom of Cambodia during its occupation; we do not need another wave of epidemic in the country.

My assumption is that you're a high school dropped out, and got enlisted in the arm forces, and your occupation is a dish washer.
